if you had a Flanger Hoax in your pedalboard and wanted to get rid of it (because of its size and 18V adaptor) but you just can't because you love it (for its uniqueness and tweakability, which is my case)…
I just eliminated mine. BUt I only used it for a texture layer, sync was not a problem, so I just recorded a bunch of it on my loopstation, which stays on the board anyway.

Be grateful for what you have.
Hug it daily.
This. I sold mine a while ago, and miss it all the time.
"I don't really need all these sounds" I said.
"I'm just using it to make noise." I convinced myself.
Now I'm all sadface because I sold it months ago.
in fact, I use it a lot just to make noise (by myself), but I also use it with the band for regular stuff and that's what I think I'd miss the most, because of the regular-unique stuff it can do —I can make noise with all the other pedals as well…
…you can't get those sounds with just a good regular phaser or just a good regular flanger, it's something in between
if you think about it, you could maybe get the same sounds with 2 tweakable phasers (say the Whetstone, for instance, which I haven't tried) but then those two would take more space than the Hoax and it'd be like 4 times more expensive…
At the least, you'd need a good phaser with selectable multiple stages, plus a through-zero flanger (which is gonna be tough, basically the strymon or the foxrox)
I remember when I had one, a friend at the time and I spent an hour messing with it the first night so much fun then I traded it...eventually it evolved into an e13 tbd

I got my Hoax several months ago from ILF member Caesar and am still trying to figure out how to use it! I love it but I tweak it for a while, find a setting a like, and then forget that setting down before I try different settings!
Even though I am a proud Flanger Hoax owner I'm still gassing pretty hard for a Whetstone.
The Flanger Hoax is a unique beast and it's a fun piece of gear.
