I want one of those so damn bad. This place makes me want to spend way too much money.
Did I already state how badly I want a 5k?

Re: 5k
I only had about half an hour to play with this yesterday, but it turned into a full hour before I even noticed how time was melting. I'd been considering buying a Devi Legend Of Fuzz, but it seems to me like the 5k can do that AAAAANNNNDDD MOOOOOORRRREEE. First oscillator I've ever touched EVER, so I'm learning it very slowly. The sounds you can get out of it when you fuck with your volume knobs is wonderful. VERY fuzzy but VERY focused at the same time. AWESOME!
I have the day off today, so I'm going to play with it RIGHT NOW (along with my Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop and Fender Blender that all came in the mail yesterday!). Maybe I should do one of those NPD threads. Then again: WHO CARES

Yeah, my ABsynth definitely got some bit tones. It made me hate Devi Evers. Especially, because I got rid of it for a Devi Ever and they are 1 trick-ponys. A good trick, but the Absynth is more me.

Re: 5k
I don't know. I bought Devi's US Fuzz (because of Tom's demo!) and it hasn't disappointed me AT ALL. I wish it had a tone knob, but I've always wanted a fuzzbox with a gate like that. Love it. Also my Shoegazer is a very good Everyman/woman kind of pedal. Just sayin'.
The 5k has a bit of a learning curve as far as the oscillation goes. I'm pretty good at manipulating pedals, but like I said, I'd never used an oscillating fuzzbox until yesterday. That's probably all I'll get to do with it, though, as I'm sending it off to Tom to have him put in the Voice/Bass toggle so I can get the most out of the damn thing. Can't wait to see how that sounds.
So far, it's a blast... it's going to take some wizardry to master the oscillation part, though. I'd like to get good at oscillation tones during breaks in a fuzz line or riff, manipulating the volume knob for 7-bit dips. I found that, yesterday, when I didn't know what I was doing more than I didn't know what I was doing early today (whatever that means), I was able to get the octave down synth fuzz action quite easily... today I was having trouble finding it. I think it's because I changed some of the EQ on my amp.

Re: 5k
I like that I have the voice toggle on mine, but honestly, I find it most useful when doing crazy oscillations. Becomes so much more sputtery, or alive when tossed over to guitar from bass mode, after trails of noise.
How have I never posted clips of anything before?

Re: 5k
I just got an AB Synth 5K but I have never used or played the straight up AB Synth. Does anyone who had or has both or who has played both know what gain setting on the 5K is equal to the stock setting of the classic AB Synth?
Given that the gain knob cleans things up I am going to guess that the classic AB Synth gain is equal to the 5K knob at either 12 noon or all the way up. Does anyone know?
