do you wanna take a stab at building 'em yourself? if so, try the GGG kits like the Brassmaster or something. Otherwise, there's the Dano French Toast (Tone Machine clone) for like >$40, VoodooLabs makes one thats pretty cheap but I can't remember what it's called right now. You can probably score an old whammy pedal for near that price as well.

Erm, outside the Dano Tone Machine clone, there's the Devi Ever VFM and ND. I dug my ND on guitar when I had it, but not so useable on bass. If you're brave, DN is mighty rad. And, you can find all of those for <$100.

FUZZ HUGGER PHANTOM OCTAVE! not just octave up depending on your signal, also does one of the BEST 8-bit sounds on bass!
Guyatone FZ-2 I love this thing, it is cheap, it is nasty, it is rude it might even smell wierd.

..... Those are the only ones I like under $100.... but they are great in their own way

I designed this wacky octave up fuzz:
http://www.forrestwhitesides.com/node/91

I can definitely build you one for less than $100. Probably more like $80.

Or you can order a PCB from GuitarPCB.com and build your own (I sell all the parts, check my sig).

But yeah, if you want a more straight-ahead octave fuzz, I can't say enough good things about the Foxx Tone Machine. It's just the best.
