octave suggestions

Post by brummy »

Ok, here's another thread asking you all for suggestions. I'm looking for an octave pedal to use with vocals. Above any other features, I want to be able to have a fully wet signal with the ability to mix the dry as well. Again, I don't want to spend too much money, but I'd say for now, as long as it's under $150, I shouldn't care too much. Since this is going through vocals, should I be concerned about tracking at all? I have no idea what to look for obviously, so any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Probably something digital for better tracking, try a used micro pog perhaps? I know my friend used a whammy through vocals for a while...

to be honest. i'm thinking maybe one of those voice box pedals might be better than a octave pedal to run vox thru.

I'd consider that, but there is a chance I'll use this for something other than vocals haha I like to experiment a lot, so I'd ideally like something more versatile.

I did see a used PS-5 at a local store, so I might have to check that out.

is Octave Up. Two Octaves Up. Two Octaves Down. et cetera. are these necessities becuz that may rule out some of the more cheaper ones.

:)

Not really, more like bonuses. I figured if I knew which pedals would let me have a fully wet signal instead of just wet blended with dry, then I would narrow it down by what other features the pedals had, such as how many octaves up or down it could go. Honestly, though, as long as it goes a single octave down, I'd be good. I probably wouldn't be using anything that goes more than an octave up though, but who knows, I might find that it'll sound cool. :idk: lol I'm not too picky, just more concerned with having a fully drenched, soaking wet signal hahaha

EHX Octave Multiplexer does an octave down but IDK about how the wet/dry signal works. or the tracking. or how it would sound on vocals. i was going to get one but i got a Dano Chili Dog instead but that was major-league mistake.

:)

The Official EHX Demo shows the Octave Multimplexer on Vocals (Easily found on youtube, by that guy from 'We May Be Giants' works nicely... depends on your vocal range for tracking but should be fine and the mix works like the Micro Pog as far as i'm aware.

Still vote Micro Pog though.

i looked at the demos for MicroPOG a while back & personally i found it to be a little underwhelming. & if i am not mistaken it doesn't do Two Octaves Up as well--

MicroPOG is another reason why i personally don't clamor for a MicroHOG unless its done right.

Yeah it only does one octave up & down but the multiplexer just does One down and nothing else.

The Micro Hog will be an XO Series if anything, the size of the now standard pog, I doubt it'd go into a Micro Enclosure, hence the Freeze being a seperate pedal.
