Kevin recently made a prototype of a univibe style pedal, and it uses the classic photocell and light bulb style circuit.
he made it in a smaller than usual box, has chorus/vibrato modes, EXP pedal input, and he's calling it THE HAZE, currently.
STREET PRICE on this is $150. yep, that's right. not $299, not $399 with a 2 year wait....not $499 or more on ebay. A BUCK-FIDDY brand new direct from the builder
i have owned and operated: Foxrox Provibe and Captain Coconut, Fulltone Deja Vibe in big box and small box, Voodoo Labs Microvibe, Bob Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe, Roger Mayer Voodoo vibe, Mojo Hand Luna Vibe, Prescription Electronics Vibe Unit, and probably some others i can not remember
the new HAZE sounds REALLY good. i mean REALLY REALLY good.....it keeps up with many of the mega $$$ univibe clones.
big throbbing swirl, plenty of chewy goodness. vIBRATO MODE is really cool as well, and gets some of that Boards of Canada lilting pitch modulation stuff i love.
and it's $150 brand new.
i told Kevin i was a bit concerned that the low price might hurt the perception of the HAZE, people might think it sounds cheap since it's half the price even less than most other boutique vibes.
seriously, i have been demoing pedals now and then for Kevin, and this is the BEST thing he has done to date! give it a listen and tell me what YOU thin k
