Anyone keen for a (big to small) muffing project?

Post by svanmaanen »

Hey all,

I am new to this forum, but... I have an old green russian big muff (modded by who knows back in the early 90's for super sustain) and while I love it the footprint is too big for my tiny pedal board. While I'd like to re-case it myself, my DIY skills / purchase of tools are yet to commence so I wanted to check who might be keen.

I understand these are old / less relaible pedals (and may die in re-housing process) but if anyone out there is interested in taking on this project let me know!

Dr. Scientist said there were many talented pedal modders out there so let me know ;)

I am open to trade / fees for the job too =)

Sell it.
Buy a Hoof.
Spend the change on cocaine and hookers.

Seriously, those muffs are worth a chunk of change nowadays. If it's just too big, the Hoof sounds similar (better?) and is smaller.

Think dev is right... I seem to recall those PCBs being chunky anyway, probably wont fit a small enclosure, sell it and buy/ get someone to build you a B.Y.O.C or GeneralGuitarGadgets kit, both should fit in a small pedal space and aren't that badly priced.

Cheers for the advice, thing is it's already modded (which may affect sale?) and I am keen on keeping it in whatever form I can.

I can't believe they are worth so much now!!!

Thing is, the board in there is already pretty big. I don't think you're not going to be able to save much space by rehousing it.
Depending on your version, it looks something like this:

You need a Hoof/Musket ... or a bigger pedal board I guess

I sold my first Green Russian for $50 years ago before the prices went up

Whoah!

OK, I think I am trying to make a "square pedal fit on a round board" ... I think you are right!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out the Hoof ;)

Yea, listen to Dev. Any of the russian pedals have massive boards and require quite a bit of real estate. I really want a greenmuff, but only to match my green small stone. If you re-house you should sell me the green enclosure so I can build a muff into it :thumb: .

Hey, if you still want to rehouse it, look what I found today by accident...

I still wouldn't do it though...

Yeah thx guys!

I think I am going to sit on it :thumb:

Have been looking at other options, e.g. [large] bedroom boards!
