the lowdown on ampeg vt-40?

Post by tchen »

caught a glimpse of one at a pawn shop today... didn't get too many details cause i plan on maybe going back later to check it out. but it's one with the control panel in front (not on top) and im not sure about speaker configuration. the price tag said $650 which im going to assume is overpriced... but i figured if its worth checking out i can go back, and if i like it see how low they'll go.

anyway, would people mind given me some general opinions on them? i know there's been a few different models? for some reason i have a preconceived notion to compare it to a twin reverb?

also... it had the badge in the upper left that said "ampeg" ...it wasnt the "a" logo. dont know if that helps it determining the version or something.

The only thing I can compare it to is...well, an ampeg. Listen to Queens of the Stone Age, or Get yer Ya-yas era Rolling Stones for an example.

Seriously, so much mids. Ear rapingly middy.
