shoegaze bassboard

Post by bobloblah »

so i got invited to play bass in a shoegaze band and i want to build a little board. nothing to complicated. i'm already for sure going to get the ECT on there. what kind of modulation would be good? i was thinking a 404 or a bassballs? any other ideas are welcome.
TL;DR
I WANT SOMETHING BITCHIN' AND SIMPLE

WHETSTONE FTW!!!!!

Or a Grand Orbiter. Or a Stereo PolyPhase.

Gotta have a little phase... but I loves me some phaser.

Also, maybe some reverb? I love me some bass reverb.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Yes, reverb has to go a shoegaze board. And phase or chorus. Ever checked out the Mind Warp?

leave the gazing to the guitarists, while you and the drummer hold down the fort with some simple pounding basslines

Russian Muff and you're set. Seriously, in most of the shoegaze i play or listen to there's little to no effects, most of it being fuzz.
I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

Bass is what keeps the actually song going, if you listen to bands like My Bloody Valentine, turn it up and you can hear the bass incredible clearly. Shields played all the bass on loveless and without it it would just be a mess. The bass keeps the song going while allowing for the epic wall of sound.

Personally, I think Fuzz/Dist/od on bass can be quite shoegaze in more louder/faster bits and in the clean sections of shoegazing win.
