Maggot Brain fuzz?

Post by CBGB »

One of the most incredible guitar pieces evar. How did Eddie Hazel get that grindy fuzz? Obviously the wah helps... and the delay

I agree!
it sounds like the gain isn't too high on the fuzzface so it takes on that maestro fz-1 flavor.

this one it is way more obvious (go to about 4:20):

This very topic came up on another site, my guess was - http://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic ... ot#p103199
"A Cranked Marshall, a Half Cranked Wah & Germanium Fuzz Face with the Echoplex on top? It could well be..."

I also don't think he used the Maestro and it was more likely a Univox Super Fuzz and stealing Eddies fingers of course.

I love that song so much...
I want a giant bunny and I want a bunch of regular bunnies and they will form a hive mind and the giant bunny will be the queen bunny and they will attack in swarms.

Any clones out there that could get that beautiful sputtery sound - one of the EQDs, perhaps?

EQD Dream Crusher is a germanium Fuzz Face-based circuit I do believe. And he just did a special new batch: http://earthquakerdevices.com/DreamCrusher/ Just a couple left. More details in the Earthquaker forum: viewforum.php?f=176

The manual for the 535Q wah says that you put fuzz, then wah for that Maggot Brain tone.......

That's just what I read. A concidence that that's what I do anyway........
