looking for a really noisy fuzz/distortion
I'm wanting to crank up my noise project a little and make some real harsh jams. I know I'm gonna need a fuzz or distortion of some kind, but there's just sooooo many out there. I'm probably going to be using it mostly with vocals, but I might want to run a tape player or even my microkorg through it at some point too. It has to give me a huge sound and be really dirty as well as have a good bit of lower frequencies (or I might just get an octave pedal to go with, not sure yet). As I'm poor, I'd like to not spend over $100 if that. What would you guys suggest I look into?

Used Dwarfcraft stuffs? Or a Devi Soda Meiser? Or old thrift store tape decks with crude solid state pre-amps cranked way the F into the red. Those can blow out pretty damn nice actually. Or cranked small cheap practice amps. With holes punched in the speaker cones? Season to taste!

I wouldn't call tons of low end harsh...
For real harshness get an XT-2 and run every instrument you play through it at once :O

well, harsh was just a term i use(d) to describe the style of music. i just meant harsh as in, not particularly pleasing to most normal people's ears hahaha

Glitch Computer, but that's a little more than $100.

The Devi Ever TP would be cool. If you're looking for octave, the Devi VFM kicks major amounts of ass. If you're looking for harsh and noisy, maybe a Noise Floor or ZG...
Or, wait! Howsabout a Disaster Fuzz? http://www.analoguehaven.com/devieverusa/disasterfuzz/
Honestly, for sub-$100 crazygonuts fuzz, Devi tears it up on all fronts.

I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Indeed.
For "noisy" and "under $100" the choice is clear: Devi Ever Aenima.

YES AENIMA!
as I started to read the thread, this is the pedal that came to mind instantly
and I was saddened by the other tame suggestions.
Aenima will make your ears bleed just right!
