Big muff for bass

So I just bought a GGG BMP and I was wondering which version I should start with for bass.

Triangle Version
Ram's Head Version
Violet Ram's Head Version
Late 70's (3rd) Version
Green Russian Reissue Version
Black Russian Reissue Version
GGG Tuned Version
I am basically looking for a classic big muff sound with more low end retention. any Ideas on how to work in a clean blend?
I also ordered the brass master project so as far as the muff goes I would like it to sound VERRY different from the brass.

from what i know, the green russian is great for bass and guitar.

Pick the one with the largest input & output caps or change them for larger ones to retain more bass in the signal.

I also suggest trying it with only one set of clipping diodes, it works nicely with bass as it doesn't overclip the signal and is a bit 'looser' if you will.

That's why I suggested leaving out one set of clipping diodes, it'll get it closer to a Jumbo Tonebender, plus it could easily be made switchable if you wanted the option for both.

Leaving out the first set of diodes is definitely a great help for bass.

As is removing the tone circuit, or just changing it up to flatten out. You can remove the grounded resistor from it and it'll work like a high roll-off sorta control too. All flat, volume boost, etc.

Pick any of the muffs, just make sure all the caps are .1uF (except the smaller caps in the tone control) or more. .01 is actually OK too. You'll lose low end, but the tone will be a bit less muddy and cut through better.

this! I would tell you to try both. Maybe use sockets and try out the differences!

GGG Tuned sound pretty nice on Bass according to some folks at talkbass.
It's basically the Sanford & Sunny Bluebeard fuzz.

Also basically a violet Ram's head. Personally I prefer the Green or Civil War Russian (apparently my green is civil war specs) for bass as I find the GGG tuned a tad too much. On guitar I'm very happy with either.

Whichever version you make I'd advise adding the mids knob/tone stack mod.
