I don't remember New Wave sounding so insipid... sounds more Creed than Cure to mecoldbrightsunlight wrote:Sounds a bit too #ambient to be massively useful to me. But it's a cool idea

Seasick chorus and shimmery flange is all over the Wire catalog. If they're going for 80s post-punk, arty pop, it seems fairly on-point. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't get WWJD cock rock vibes out of the demos I heard.Scruffie wrote:I don't remember New Wave sounding so insipid... sounds more Creed than Cure to me

I was being a little facetious but I think of Clone Theory chorus & Electric Mistress/BF-2 flange when I think new wave and it just... didn't do that for me? At all.echorec wrote:Seasick chorus and shimmery flange is all over the Wire catalog. If they're going for 80s post-punk, arty pop, it seems fairly on-point. Yeah, to me the demo didn't sound so new wave/postpunk, but I wondered if that was the demoer? But in a preset box, how much influence does the demoer actually have over the sound? Puse for philosophical conumdrum circle time.
But also, I got zero WWJD cock rock vibes either, so...win?

i'm intrigued by this one too since i still have to find a polyphonic octaver that has the same grit as the og POG - please report about poly-mode because it's the only thing i'd use it for.Pepe wrote:I just pre-ordered one of these. I hope that the poly mode is better than that of the OC-3.tremolo3 wrote:

Yeah maybe it's the demo but I got very little new wave from it. Maybe in other hands it sounds like thatScruffie wrote:I don't remember New Wave sounding so insipid... sounds more Creed than Cure to mecoldbrightsunlight wrote:Sounds a bit too #ambient to be massively useful to me. well, that Steve Reich mode is certainly a thing. it sure would be nice to have more than 2 seconds of loop time, though. oh, and affordable. i can't see spending €260 for the couple of modes i could use.

I'm definitely going to jump into this when I have the money, sounds great and the range control in the poly mode is really cool!Dowi wrote:i'm intrigued by this one too since i still have to find a polyphonic octaver that has the same grit as the og POG - please report about poly-mode because it's the only thing i'd use it for.Pepe wrote:I just pre-ordered one of these. Re: 2020 Happenings! (summer nah-mann)
so, I played around with the demo widget for the OC-5 on Boss' website. I liked the suboctaves pretty much across the board, but I tended to turn the octave up as far down as allowable or off. Really can't see any advantage to that aspect over my ancient PS-2, which is not particularly less "real" sounding, but is just a touch weirder to its advantage, imo. To be fair to Boss, though, I feel this way about every digital octave up.

Well, I'll try this out when I get it. The octave up sound in the poly mode wasn't really pleasing to my ears, either. We'll see!

I'll definitely be interested to hear what you think, Pepe....
I feel that my days of dropping $300 USD (counting shipping) on a single pedal, however, are gone, even if I sell some off. That used to give me agita, but I'm more ok with missing out now and trying to better utilize what I have. And this equilibrium will shatter into a million pieces if somebody produces a great sounding analog frequency shifter pedal, lol.
yeh, the Reich sounds drew my attention too. I think it is one of the best-designed pedals in its "class" (however sparse and varied that might be) and is reasonably priced for both what it does and what it takes to make. Kudos to David (and Kent).dubkitty wrote:well, that Steve Reich mode is certainly a thing. it sure would be nice to have more than 2 seconds of loop time, though. oh, and affordable. i can't see spending €260 for the couple of modes i could use.
