I think it's the new work from home thing. Businesses were worried that productivity would fall through the floor, but shocker of all shocker...people are desperately clinging to their jobs and are stuck at home so they are working more...and productivity is through the roof.

as for the offerings...big ol' yawn for me.
It's the 4th quarter of the year. Some companies release pedals every year around late August/mid-September. If you were trying to space your releases out, it makes sense to unveil something around January (Winter NAMM), late spring (pre-summer touring), then early fall (pre-Black Friday), and then you're back at January (Winter NAMM) again in 3 more months.

I think because so many shops in the US haven't been able to work at full-capacity, we saw fewer 2nd quarter & summer releases. Now with trade shows still cancelled and shops ramping up production again, we'll start to see releases which may be have been postponed (combined with stuff that was already scheduled for a fall release).

There's likely some lockdown-fueled pedals on the way, but many companies take over a year to breadboard, trouble-shoot, and refine new pedals. The new stuff, people tinkered on during down time, is unlikely to be released until next year. (unless you're a small builder who makes limited batches)

I don't see any reason to buy this over the Atmosphere or Rooms. Unless you really like sequenced filter-verb.

Boss announced the new GT Pocket and I think they must be reading my mail. It is exactly what I need: a headphone amp with Bluetooth and quality effects at a decent price. I'll be grabbing it and some decent wireless ear buds very soon.

I'm not jumping for the Nightsky just yet, but I feel like it might be even better with synths as opposed to guitars.

I really love the filter/lfo feature on it but the reverb itself (focusing so much on shimmer) is a big disappointment. Maybe that's too strong of a word - it sounds good - like, it sounds exactly like what you'd expect from a Strymon reverb. I have a BigSky but never use it, though - it's almost too vanilla.

On the other hand, the Dig, Deco, ElCap, and Volante keep me interested. Maybe if this one is as "focused" as those other ones I can find some use for it. Andy's demo sounded really good, but it didn't make me jump.

It's just bluetooth in, right? You can't hook up bluetooth headphones to it, can you?

via Youtube:
Like a DC2 for this generation.
There's no rate or shape control. It's made up of 8 internal FX chains, so you pick one and set the depth. That's it.

https://www.bigearpedals.com/product-page/albie
ALBIE is an ambient modulator featuring eight settings specifically built and curated to cover the jangly, shimmering, modulated sounds associated with the New Wave & Post Punk music of the ‘70s & ‘80s.
These effects chains consist of several kinds of modulation as well as reverbs and delays, even some compression.

"The clicking momentary footswitch operates like a standard footswitch, but when held down provides a secondary setting for each effects chain. These extra settings are called the “Neil Modes”—named after Neil Graham of Dr. Scientist who programmed the digital code for ALBIE, as well as designed these secondary settings."

:snax: I've rarely been this interested in a preset box :snax:

Sounds a bit too #ambient to be massively useful to me. But it's a cool idea

So, listening more, #ambient or not, it's awfully "samey" across the modes - hard to swallow the marketing words re: "8 separate effects" :idk: I do like the way it sounds, but I wouldn't want it on in my chain all the time or more than 10% of the time, really. But I expect those 10% moments would be fairly glorious. Just don't know that's worth $199 to me, though I could definitely see some seeing that as a steal.... :snax:

Same. I didn't feel like there was enough separation between them in the demo I watched. Would still totally plug it in if given the chance though
