In MY pricerange, I'll take the "higher end" Squires or used Japanese Fenders any day over anything MIM.

I'm convinced most gear worship is overblown crap, but then, I'm poor, so...

Also, it seems like everyone runs their shit through 10 Boss pedals, so whogivesashit.

Also, i cream for CIJ, so what do I know.

I'm pretty sure this will be my next guitar http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/squier-vintage-modified-telecaster-thinline-electric-guitar

Squiers are good in my book.i'm using a classic vibe duo sonic more than anything lately. its a pretty nice guitar but the stock pickups didnt cut it for me at gig volume. way to much unwanted feedback. so i put a fender noiseless in the bridge and a blue lace sensor in the neck and now it sounds really nice. it stays in tune pretty well and the finish is just as good as my CIJ mustang. the neck is actually a one piece maple neck and the neck pocket actually fits tighter on the classic vibe duo than my CIJ mustang. my brother has a late 90's vista series musicmaster bass. that thing is built really well too. could use a better pickup though. i'm interested to check out the new mascis jazzmaster. that one looks like it could be a winner!

i just saw hacienda, and the bassist was rocking the fuck out of a squier bass. he was running into an old silver face bassman head and 6x10, and you know what? he sounded amazing!

 i know the feeling. my friend has a squier vm p-bass and once in a while i'll pick it up and get my bass on, but a bassist i jammed with had an american that i picked up and learned why they cost so much more. incredible bass

I haven't read anything after the first post, but I usually think:

"WHAT A POOR FUCKER! THEY SHOULD GIVE UP"

Not really...it's all in the fingers. Who cares really? Tell your bandmates they should pitch in if they are so worried about it.

I love my Squier Telecaster Custom. It stays in tune, and the dual humbuckers are really hot. Maple fingerboard is beautiful. I'll probably keep this one for the rest of my life.

There are a few great bands that use Squiers so it really doesn't bother me. The CV thinline I played was really nice, sounded better than the American Standard tele I played.

i've played two Squier CV fretless Jazz Basses which both sounded better than the MIM Fender Jazz Bass i wound up with, which i got because i could trade a Fender Mike Dirnt P-Bass and a Biyang delay for it. if i see someone playing a Squier and it sounds good i think "dude knows a good deal."
