Re: New gear announcements for 2022
Ryan/Dr.sci is dropping 4 pedals In a few days, and they'll be discounted 17%. Not sure if 4 brand new pedals or, most probably, 2 new pedals and a couple blackedout editions of existing pedals, we'll see. One is the SDD, the other one probably a sort of computer-something (ring mod? Bitcrusher? Both?), maybe the tremolessence too?

One on the top left it looked like the elements so I assumed it's blackout versions of his current lineup plus the SDD.Dowi wrote:Ryan/Dr.sci is dropping 4 pedals In a few days, and they'll be discounted 17%. Re: New gear announcements for 2022
Critter and Guitari have a new kickstarter up for the 201 Synthesizer and I’m honestly a little confused. What’s the point and who is it really for? It seems like it’s just an Organelle without a screen and with less modes available. I guess it’s kind of like an updated version of the Pocket Piano? I don’t know, but I guess I’ll just stick with my Organelle.
That being said, they recently revamped the Video Scopes and if this is an updated version of the Pocket Piano, then maybe we’ll see a new version of the Kaleidoloop? I still massively regret selling that thing.

^It's wild to me that we live in an era where companies want customers to be the bank. They're saying they can ship this in April (Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar building). Instead of taking out a loan and making a few months of payments, they want you to advance them money with 0% interest and all you're getting is a chance to be first in line. There's no savings or bonuses to you. For a 90-100 day loan, you've got to give people something (gift bag, shirt, bonus soundpacks...anything).

Umm...no screen & there's no mention of a desktop editor, so you're just supposed to scroll & scroll to get to pattern #318? (which you can't name or categorize)Play directly on the keyboard or turn on one of the pattern generators. From simple octave arpeggiation to randomizing polyphonic patterns
Ugh, goddam it.When the sequence is playing back you can endlessly change the pattern and synth engine. When you get it just right, hit the save button. You can save 'unlimited' sequences (well... not really unlimited, but many thousands).
Who remembers the Onda? (Moogfest 2018) It didn't have symbols on it, but it featured a larger keyboard with 6 pots, instead of 5.MIDI Connections:
⅛" Mini MIDI In jack (TRS Type A connection)
⅛" Mini MIDI Out jack (TRS Type A connection)

BF drop, street $179 / GBP 185 / EUR 209
This is supposed to be a true reverse device, meaning it's recording your signal and then playing it back. It's not an auto-swell/ADSR device.

That seems interesting! I could get behind that for sure. Damn, I haven’t had pedal gas in awhile, but it’s really creeping up on me between that thing and the SDD

Re: New gear announcements for 2022
after leaving me kinda cold for years, OBNE has been grabbing my attention a bit more (loving the Dweller after sittin' fence on it for a longish while), and this seems the most interesting yet....
officially on the "waiting for the v2 expansion w/ forward/reverse slider that mixes probability of forward or reverse playback with full reverse @ one end & full forward (not as cool as reverse, yeah, but still plenty cool, what with the clock etc.)" train
. or actually, since this ain't lickle grains dancin' aboot, just a foot switch to choose whether you want to play the buffer back forward or reverse?
pretty please? (still waiting for big-eyed bunny emoji)
and expression/cv/midi - it's all worth the extra size
ok i didn't understand this pedal when i wrote that jawn merhumblegrumble

Is this not happening then? I don’t see anything on his site about it. I do see the SDD though. ThanksDowi wrote:Ryan/Dr.sci is dropping 4 pedals In a few days, and they'll be discounted 17%. Thanks, I feel dumb, but I thought I checked his menu yesterday and it was implied to check out his dealers. I somehow missed his shop.echorec wrote:https://www.drscientist.ca/shop/aman74 wrote:Is this not happening then? I don’t see anything on his site about it. I do see the SDD though. Thanks
So what’s the deal with the SDD. I know it’s well like here and there was even an ILF edition at one time? His lineup is so sparse. The trem and chorus should be there for sure!

Re: New gear announcements for 2022
I’m pretty sure the original SDD was an ILF exclusive or something like that? That was before my time here though, so I could be wrong. Always wanted one, was going to try to grab a blacked out edition, but I missed them. Will hopefully grab one in the new year after I sell a few pedalsaman74 wrote:Thanks, I feel dumb, but I thought I checked his menu yesterday and it was implied to check out his dealers. Re: New gear announcements for 2022
The original SDD was just a regular run pedal, then at one point they did a special ILF edition (ILFDD) with another switch and maybe another extra feature. Anyway, the thing is just a classic PT 2399 delay that sounds good! Doesn't do anything special and fancy but sounds nice.

Re: New gear announcements for 2022
The ILF-DD leveraged the beautifully distressed tones that you can get from extracting long delay times out of the PT2399 chip.
I think the SDD also had the compander chip like some BBD delays and high-end DDLs used for better noise performance. And it’s been mentioned that it’s in the new one. I’ve always guessed that this is part of why the ILF-DD is, IMO, the best sounding PT2399 delay.
The ILF-DD also moved the modulation function to a stomp switch rather than a toggle and added a depth control to the rate. And the most fun thing: it added a momentary switch that gradually ramps the feedback towards runaway, so you can do that King Tubby dub trick with your feet.
It’s set standards for me of what I want on a basic one tap delay, both in sound and in being playable in such an interactive way. I’ve had nice sounding BBD delays through with just a single stomp switch, and that just doesn’t last for me. The DOD Rubberneck has lasted as something that I can play in the same ways and actually a few more, but the ILF-DD has its own tonal thing that I keep it for.

Re: New gear announcements for 2022
I got into pedals after the SDD went out of production. I preferred the longer delay times in the few demos of the ILFDD that I was able to find so I’m happy to see that Dr. Scientist is touting this new SDD as a descendant of the ILFDD. Getting it at a discount during their weekend sale was a no-brainer for me.
