What about Pagan Altar? Great occult vibes, great guitar playing, awesome songs. Guy doesn't play guitar, but that's okay with me.....
Full disclosure: I've never heard Conan.... But I am just matching suggestions semi based on criteria..... Windhand was a good suggestion.

Scratch Pagan Altar, not even close. Did Buried at Sea or Ocean get mentioned? Here Where Nothing Grows Ocean, not the German band.....

I didn't post them because I always post them because I'm such a fucking local fanboi when it comes to Portland heavy music that I get self-conscious.
They sound nothing like Conan, though. Neither do Buried At Sea. Even if both of them are amazeballs.

I'm sure this is true, but it does meet many of the criteria listed in his initial post. No frontin' and the like.....
Fuck Buried at Sea are so fucking good.....

Re: Moar Doom Like Conan???
Thanks all, I had to wait to get home to listen... Lots of good stuff in the past couple of pages...
I like the Salem's Pot a lot, also Bong, Inter Arma, Witch, Grimpen Mire, Slomatics, COLTSBLOOD, Zoroaster, Helms and Headless Kross...
Some of the others were killed by vocals...
Gotta work on my Baritone riffs... Keep 'em coming if you got 'em...

Moss, Warhorse, Ol' Scratch, Light Bearer, Indian, Northless, The Body, Khanate, HALO.
I love pretty much every band mentioned in this thread, when it comes to down-tempo heavy shit I just love it all. From cliché stoner rock to extreme sludge and traditional gothy doom...
Although I get where you're coming from, when it comes to other genres I'm way more picky. But always got time for anyone who wants to crank out the heavy.

Doom is the thing I'm MOST picky about. I'll tolerate sloppy death, or LLN level black, but poor doom is unforgivable.... I think it's the genre I listen to most but I have the highest standards for, so probably the least number of bands I'll listen to....

Happy you seem to be digging most of my suggestions but yeah I love Headless Kross so much, although I think the kraut and space influence adds something more for me then Conan do, especially on the Demises release, Slomatics I've known for years but since they changed drummer/vocalist they've brought more space vibes too with no complaints from me. All three bands should have an album out later in the year, can't wait to gig with them all again.
The new Moss album was mentioned there too, I'd highly recommend it too and if you like it filthier then work back through their older stuff.
