We all wear solid gold pants and play solid gold guitars. It's not really about "Image" as in "tight pants leather jackets". I'm not all that concerned about what people think, but it's rough out there. People 'not giving a fuck' has reached new heights, and I wouldn't really be all that surprised to see someone leave before hearing a band play because of their instruments.

Hang on - you all wear solid gold pants and play solid gold guitars??? No-ones going to be looking at your headstock are they?

Am I missing something here?

It's pretty hard NOT to look at the headstock when it's the only one that's not solid gold.

I like Squiers. My bassist plays a Squier P-Bass that was given to us by some dude that was going to just throw it away. For as much abuse as it takes, it stays in tune REALLY well, and has a unique P-Bass sound with a really malleable tone knob. If you're just looking for a backup or something to use temporarily, I'd say you'd be in super shape if you were to pick up a Squier. And where I'm from, "Squier" on the headstock gets you nothing but street cred.

Also gonna get a J Mascis Squier Jazzmaster the second they're available.

I'm spoiled by my american fenders, so it's tough to say. My friend had a squier that came in one of those starter packages, and boy did it suck shit. That was a few years ago though. It made me think strats were lame until i picked up my american fender. But i played a newer squier a while ago, and it was actually really nice. My friend has a vintage modified Pbass and it's a steal for what he paid for it.

First thought when I see somebody rocking a Squier? That must be one of those assholes who claims his Squier, which he got on some ridiculous deal, blows many MIA Fenders away.

Other than that there's nothing inherently wrong with Squiers. My first guitar was one and it played fine, for a strat. A friend of mine rocks a VM Jazz bass that is downright sexy, hardware was upgraded on that though.

So paint the headstock solid gold and in the process paint over the logo.
TWO BIRDS, ONE STONE.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure this is a troll thread.

Meh, I think it's a decent question. The thread itself may have been rather derailed at this point, but I think overall, we can say: Squiers have built up a stigma of being the "beginner, budget" brand, but have certainly been exceeding those expectations in the last couple of years.

The question is definitely valid it just seems to me as if the OP isn't sincere in asking it.
If I walked into a venue and saw a band wearing gold pants and playing gold guitars, that would be far more of a concern for me than walking into a venue and seeing a band playing Squires.

I assure you my intentions were pure. I just wanted to see what people thought, but the general consensus seemed to be "fuck you, squiers are straight legit". I guess that did answer my question though, so thanks all around.

Yet you're not worried about people leaving because you're all dressed in gold pants? :?:
