a full pledge will get you one of the first new Peachfuzz's this is true - but if you want to support Frantone and the relaunch of the product line you can pledge any amount you want, and that pledge can be redeemed as a credit to any future Frantone merch that you would want to get.
This is actually a much better pitch than what's being presented on the kickstarter, and a much more compelling idea for people who are interested in supporting her company but don't necessarily want a Peachfuzz.

That is pretty cool,
pledging for future credit on another product is sweet
I can think of a ton of instances where I would like to be able to do that

About the same I think. She is OG boutique.

but things have changed in the world.
I just found pedalplus still has the prices up, the peach fuzz was $325 so this doesn't seem like such a bad deal.

To be fair, she increased her prices a bit just before she stopped building. Those prices are still a little high, but totally understandable. She used to etch the pcbs herself even. The pedals sound good and are definitely worth it. They're well built and her customer service is solid.

I totally missed the Frantone era the first time around, but her rep is solid. I can't justify spending the $300 on a fuzz. If it was a unique exclusive just for the kickstarter I think with her credibility she would raise the cash in a heartbeat.

A peachfuzz with a paisley graphic or something new would get me if I had the $$$. I bought a peachfuzz for an insanely low price a couple years ago and flipped it. I miss it.

I think Jero is referring to the evolution of the boutique pedal ecosystem between then and now here.

I really want a frantone ring modulator. It sounds very different and much more 'musical' than any other ring mod I've heard (from videos of it).

Anyone ever have one of those? (Glacier)

No, but I'd love to try a Glacier.

I'd be curious to see what year the people bashing her were born in. ;)
I could drink legally by then and had been playing guitar for five or so years.

amazed by what constitutes bashing these days
Same.

This isn't tumblr safe space bullshit, and well, nobody's bashed her in the thread I've seen at all.
I think peeps are having a hard time separating the "this isn't a normal kickstarter" reaction from the quality builder.
Not having much trouble at all. It's not offering any discount or bonus or ...well...anything.

It's not even a "new" pedal - full retail, four months or more out.

Being "the first" isn't a bonus.

As has been said, very poorly thought out campaign.

Ecosystem has changed radically as has been noted. Hand-done PCB, well, I hate to say it, that's been typical of a couple of the guys who build to order I deal with and the stuff's top-notch, but....if it's a PCB, doesn't matter if it's done in a bathtub or a thousand at a time in a fab soundwise.

But I'm also not the typical boutique purchaser. It's gotta have *something* that I can't get somewhere else for me to consider the upcharge.

I would have a little more sympathy for those surprised to hear they've been bashing Fran(tone) with their posts.

Except the thread title specified it was people who might be interested in the post, which isn't to suggest you absolutely can't come in and make dismissive remarks about a company / person who runs it and risk the banhammer. Merely positing though that you might want to dial your readiness for pushback up a few notches if you wind up crossing the express purpose of OP. :idk:

Well, this's ILF. Nobody's getting banned for saying what they think. :erm:

I'm not saying that Fran/tone's perfectly executed a Kickstarter campaign, but I'd at least appreciate if people'd stop to consider what they're saying before they say it. Some people blatantly don't know what they're talking about. Everybody's entitled to their opinion though. :idk: Sometimes when people talk about pedals they say things that're thoroughly baseless.

Sounds like someone's resonating two strings at once to me.

Kickstarters are fucking dumb though. I'll agree with that sentiment. If I wanted this pedal, and I don't, I'd be into it. I think that if she'd used a different approach it'd be better. I mean, how many failed Kickstarter projects do there have to be before people learn their lesson? I would have thought by now, it was clear that it's not good business.

Also, I'd like to point out what some may be thinking in regards to old school boutique. I don't care about some of these points, but a LOT do.

-300 plus for a three knob fuzz is just stupid
-jacks ought to be on top with the power supply because I guarantee you that enclosure has enough room in it
-on that note, make the damn thing smaller
-the graphics are not that great and the color is hideous

Ok that's just a few. I'm not against this at all, but I don't think the price is right and I don't think that Kickstarter is a smart business move.
