Also, ill mention it because of thread name. The EHX Holy Grail. Did not like it at all. It was recommended to me by a bunch of old heads in a music store. To me it lacked depth. It sounded very flat and it added too much color to my tone...not that all coloring of the tone is bad, just in reverb. Flerb was interesting, to say the least. Granted it is a one knober and one can't expect a whole lot. I had the big box version. I sold it to a guy that claimed it was exactly like vintage fender reverb. I laughed, disagreed, and took his $80. I've yet to find a reverb I can vibe with, I really want to try the dispatch master and the super moon.

I had it for like a week and was like "how do people use this mess?"
I don't get reverb pedals that kill your volume as they get more wet.
All but useless.
i can see why folks wouldn't get along with the reverb on its own. what i use the RV-3 for is delay with reverb added, and i love it for that...i dig the way the delay deteriorates when the feedback is turned way up. the synthetic quality of the verb also works for me as a shoegaze sound.
funny how things work...my 70s/early 80s Distortion+ is one of my Swiss army knife pedals. maybe i just got a really good one

also, the blackface/silverface Fender Deluxe Reverb amp...every goddamn "roots" player has one and they sing their praises, but it's the only Fender amp i don't like at all. i find it to be too trebly and thin in general, and lacking in the sort of personality i want from a Fender amp.
i was bummed when i tried the tweed Deluxe a la Neil Young, which also didn't work for me at all. IMO people over-credit the Deluxe for Neil's sound, when he's also running through a Magnatone and a Baldwin Exterminator.
possibly the biggest surprise, though, was when i played a pro-line Gretsch Duo Jet and it didn't sound as good as the Pro Jet i gutted and put in Dynasonic PUs. the good part was that the PJ and all the parts were about $650 and a new Duo Jet lists for over $2000

even Joe Carducci, the Gretsch product manager, played it and said "it feels just like a Duo Jet."

Agreed on the Deluxe Reverb, I vastly prefer the 6L6-based amps in the classic and modern Fender lines.
For Neil, a huge portion of it is that damn Echoplex that's running constantly too - it takes some of the harsh off the tweed.

I'm glad the POG2 didn't work out for you because it's doing me RIGHT!
I would have to say that any analog delay I've ever messed with is completely lackluster. I guess I just like my repeats clean.

Let's see...
Pharaoh, it was underwhelming. I guess I expected a muff, instead of like...something else. Too blanket-y.
Any Devi TP variant, I seem to only like the SM/VFM sound.
Audio Monk Fuzzpotion: "Hey guys, let's make a Super Fuzz, but take away all the balls!"
Civil War Muff variants: They kinda sound real...tame. Not any like, aggression. I dunno, I guess I don't like low-gain muffs.
The Melx 2 - I didn't get it? IDK. It was like...man, I don't even know.
I'm so gonna just ramble aimlessly if I keep going.

For me the only pedal that's irritated the shit out of me was an Infanem 2nd Voice. There was stuff that was irritating, like finding a good sound but only having it useful over a limited span of frets, and then there was stuff that was deal-breaker annoying like making such a dick load of noise that it was unuseable at gigging volume. I could go on, but yeah, it bummed me cos I'd done my homework on it and thought it would really work, and I liked the sounds that I got out of it, but it seemed really... not well thought through and amateur in some regards. It put me off Infanem, so I don't dare try the new 2nd voice.

Pog2: was happy to get one but it didn't work for me. I always Wonder how many guys here dig it.
Pharao: First i thought "why is there this Talking about?" But The Pedal grew on my and i really like it now. But that process Took more than a Year.
Dispatchmaster: didn't feel this Pedal - it was so indirect... And o normally Love EQD.
Mxr bass fuzz Deluxe: uhh, it is pretty worse in direct comparison to The el grande. That was no Development. I thought they would have put The Eltern grande on steroids... Bummer, sucks all over The Place...
Fulltone: 69, 70 and another one. Why do they sell so good? Wonky adjustment: literally a fifth of The knob Travel sounded good on any of these. Really not my taste. But a lot of People go Crazy about them...

I think a lot of people love going crazy about stuff. Hype is fun. A lot more fun than practising some scales...

True.
It just took some time for me to understand, that not everything praised will fit my playing style. First you always search the Problem on your side...

Oh, so many things. Where to start?
EHX LPB-1: Hollow and shitty sounding. I hear the same cold overtone in every one of their pedals, I don't get it.
Tubescreamer, and all variants thereof: Fuck this shit.
Muffs: Honestly, can't get down. Hoof might be the exception. Tried so many. So so many. They always go away. I want to like them. It's not them, it's me.
Second Voice: Love the idea in theory, bought it twice, I think I had it one day the first time before listing it and two days the second time. The Deluxe looks cool though!

Yup. Too "smooth" for a muff. Awesome look, very underwhelming sound. The *Green Russian* variety is much more my style.
EHX Bass Micro Synth. Hands-down the hardest pedal to dial-in a usable setting, and a 1 trick pony when you finally get there.
MXR Dyna Comp, Boss CS-3. Nice attempt at a compressor.
Bartolini Tube-It. Outstanding as a treble boost. Otherwise completely underwhelming.

I have to agree, I didn't want to say anything because I didn't think anyone ever thought "THAT is the key to my unbelievable tone." But yeah, it was way cold. And a lot of their new xo pedals have that vibe to them that I cannot get to work with my stuff.

I think most delays I've owned (aside from the PDS 1002) have all been disappointments in some fashion.
