Nifty.

Did you send them a good album to record in return? They're overdue.

Saw them when they put that thing out. Badass show.

On topic: I think higher of someone who has low price good gear (and that's pretty much what I think Squier is nowadays) on stage than of someone who has expensive stuff. But then again I'm not anywhere near Virginia and when I go see a band I usually decided I want to see them prior to seeing their gear.

But aren't Squiers basically made by slaves?

I mean, I play an Epiphone which is basically the same thing, but they're cheap for a reason.

exactly!

i really like using guitars that musicians think are unkool. prolly because i don't care what another musician thinks...i'm there for the punters and they don't care nor notice things like that. so i don't get caught up in that shite either. playing for other muso's is a dangerous game and something i'm not into.
i feel i can make anything sound good and have no prob using my 56 LP JR or my 75 dollar paul westerberg first act. the first act got me grief from other muso's until they heard it...... then i actually sold a couple by using it. or so i was told...they might have lied. the bastards.

about the squires.....the one i have is awesome. plays great and sounds fine even with the stock pickup. if i were to gig with it, a pickup change would be in order but i was blown away by the quality on it.
i'm with the others who said: sand the fukking logo off and do the gig if it's problem.

Used to be a wink and a nudge - you could find decent ones in the MIM and later MIK lines if you searched (I have one), the MIMs are a steal if you're going to gut the electronics especially since it's the same wood as MIA stuff, cut on MIA lathes and machines, and shipped to Mexico for finish and assembly before they got their own machines down there. But nobody liked them, and like the MIJ Squiers, they've somehow aged like wine after being pissed on for a decade +.

Now there's no real thinking, it's "oh, a guitar" - although personally on basically everything but the Mascis I look at the CV line and think "I could have got a decent used MIM for $150 less if I was patient" and not be saddled with a neck that makes my hand and forearm cramp.

TL;DR: love the MIM/MIJ/Brawley-era MIK, the rest can sink in a pit.

Yep. A lot of those new squiers are nice. I totally do judge people on their equipment, but it won't stop me listening to a band, and if they're good it makes me feel like a dick for ever judging them on their gear. And when I judge it's not about hating on low end guitars, it's me thinking prs and strats are super lame, and I've seen quite a few people who have proved me wrong on that. Squiers are all good in my book.

It was sorta that. It was Soundgarden, QOTSA, Mastodon at the Gorge in WA.

Oh my god fuck you. (j/k  ) I queued for tickets for the s/t tour about 15 minutes before they went on sale at our uni, about the 20th person in the queue, and I DIDN'T GET TICKETS BECAUSE THEY SOLD OUT ONLINE. That was last year and I'm still angry about it. And I'm still waiting for soundgarden to come to the uk on their reunion.

I think Squier basses are a lot better than Squier guitars IMO, and if I see someone playing one I just think they must have liked it.

:idk:

We have a stock Squier Tele that, I swear to god, has one of the nicest necks I've ever played. It has a few tuning issues, and absolutely fine (Seymour Duncan) pickups. It belongs to our piano player, and with a setup, and maybe the electronics cleaned up, would be better than 90% of Fender guitars I've jammed on. And I've got access to an all original Stratocaster from the 60's (yes, that would be in the 10%. My point is, I've played nice Fenders). I don't think it cost Eur300. A great guitar, especially for the money. That's what our Tommy is playing on the video on our website.

The name on the headstock means fuckall.

Listen to your ears, not your bandmates. Professionals that use Gibsons also use DS-1's.

My violin isn't worth even a bit of $27,000, and I love it more than one I've played that is.

Agreed, not my favorite but in no way bad. Regardless, Homme and crew get a pass in my book due to their stellar output throughout the years. Shit talk can commence when/if they drop an official dud of an album.

I saw TVL rockin' the Squier on the Self-Titled Tour too, shit sounded good.

My bandmate plays a Squier Jaguar bass (before they got lame) and it really doesn't bother me. My other friend has a Squier CV Jazz Bass and it's one of the sexiest basses I've played. I think the people that hate on squiers have only played Standard and Affinity series instruments. The Classic Vibes and higher up models can be set up to play as good as any other guitar.

For me personally, if I see a band playing Squier I may assume they're a new band at first. Then again I know enough about gear to discern if it's a low end or high end Squier, so I might not think "oh they're a new band" and instead go "ffffff I want that."

If it bothers you, the logos on the satin finish ones come off with a bit of steel wool. Problem solved.

Or buy a used MIM.

Or don't buy a Fender in general.
