I've been waiting forever for this to be announced! :joy:

To you party poopers, it's nothing like the Inventobox so open you eyes and undick your attitude. :hello:

And it's an AWESOME, AWESOME idea. So sweet, and I totally have a boner for it.

so do the cartridges contain components like a stompbox would? caps, resistors, op amps, whatevers? do components live in the control box? or what? or fuck me?

Effector 13 Console II, Dalton boner approved.

But if the cartridges are SMD copies of say the DE Soda Meiser or the Fuzzhugger Algal Bloom. Why would I ever buy another stompbox?
On the other hand people who already have a lot of fuzzes why should they buy this?

Will there be unique cartridges as well as pedals which won't be cartridged etc. ?

Anyone? :idk:

They're not that close to the stomps, and I always thought side-mounted things (like toggles) would be easier to snap off.

But if it's really a problem, maybe something a drawer handle could fix? Not overtop, but behind each cart?

'Course! Cartridges make the connection to send the circuits into the Console, through knobs and out jacks! :)

I've been asked something similar before.

Just put an icepick in 5 of your orifices and get 6 lumberjacks to hammer them in with a chainsaw.

Just make 5 SHOs 20 and 6 lumberjacks 24 and you've got it.

I'm hoping that these boxes for the most part are their own stand alone circuits. Maybe one flagship model from each of the makers but I wouldn't want them just redoing all of their fuzz boxies in this form the exact problem you mentioned will happen there will be a divide in people who already own the standalone versions and those who will just buy this and use this. I'm still excited though.

Well because of the pots it will be somewhat different I guess soundwise with the same circuit..

I've thought about plug-in modules for years...cartridges that plug into (and can be combined in) a larger base unit...

Ha, Mr. Lulzer.
You're right that it's nothing like the Inventobox. But you left out what I also said:
Tom Dalton wrote:I'm not saying "I thought of this first"--I'm saying I bet 99% of pedals builders have probably thought about this.

I think Line 6 has the right idea when it comes to this type of concept--smaller units that plug into another unit. But then making it open-source, etc. If I had Vex-style money...in his position, I would have gone for custom-made modules/enclosures/etc so I didn't have to make compromises.

I do not have Vex-style time or money. So I would've never gotten to my console concept. I'm more than thrilled to be a small part of Devi's Console II, which IMO outdoes what I could've done anyway!

It would be awesome if it had it's own line of sounds. Usually I'm against this kind of marketing but here I think it's appropriate both marketing and fun wise.

I could go either way on this.

I'm a huge video game fan... mostly Nintendo, since 1985... so I think the idea itself is really cool. It actually reminds me a lot of the Wii's Virtual Console, where like you may already have a lot of the fuzzes involved, but now you can run them all via the same core system. You might have to rebuy them, but they'd be cheaper this time around.

However, I also feel like it could go the direction of something like a vinyl record versus an mp3 on an iPod. Now, this is only my initial reaction, and purely based on my own preferences and psychological make-up, but it feels to me like I could either have a "real" Soda Meiser or Algal Bloom or a "ported" version of the same pedal... i.e. the actual stand-alone stompbox, or the effect in a cartridge. I don't know anything about building effects, so I'm not sure about the way the effect would sound via a stompbox or via a cartridge connected to a core unit... I reckon that the electronics/signal are probably the same, but I also feel arguments (i.e. something like true bypass / false bypass) about "the pedal version sounds better" etc. I think maybe the vinyl versus mp3 analogy might be a little more accurate, but I don't want to piss off the builders by assuming that the sound or quality would be any different, because it probably isn't.

I DO think that, and this is again just MY reaction like from my mind, the design style might look cool, as far as an Atari, but I also kind of associate Atari with frustrating, ugly games. Perhaps a more Nintendo-oriented design would help me associate more with an idea of rugged and totally fun execution. ;)

BUT... this IS a really great idea. Way to go.
