This is some holy grail shit and even though I will never buy this, I'm stoked that it exists in a world saturated with Stranger Things theme covers on Minilogues. There hasn't been much happening at the very top end of self contained Analog Synths for a while and I'm just excited to hear people do some outrageous bullshit with this. Yes, $6-8K may look like a daunting number at first glance (don't disagree and I'm not trying to nudge anyone into debt/divorce), but how many people actually know what they spend already on gear and/or total bullshit with no lasting positive effect on one's life (sweets, snacks, alcohol, tobacco)?

I live in a Randian paradise, where health insurance for a healthy 30-something would run me about $4,800 a year----I might go to the doctor once every 3 years for a lingering cold or a sinus infection. That means I can't be bothered to pay $15K on a single nasty cold. I can't afford office visits and prescriptions for things like insomnia, anxiety, depression, or pain relief, et cetera. I have come to realize, however, that if you don't spend money on bullshit recreational things (eating out, mediocre live music, tickets to the local megaplex), you can, however, battle anxiety and irritability with a heavy dosage of sonic exploration.

Circling back to gear, how many people even know what their collection is worth? I imagine for many people (hobbyists or pros), it's a matter of cobbling it together piece by piece, until 10-15 years later, you decide to take inventory for insurance purposes and suddenly realize you've got well north of $20K invested in your preferred hobby. I could go into much greater depth breaking this down, but I think a lot of people with fairly modest incomes are already in possession of well north of $8K worth of gear, they've just spread it out across several purchases, instead of zeroing in on one standalone item that negates the need for a lot of bonus items. If someone made a $5,000 guitar with built-in effects & memory recall, how many people would buy it on this forum? ----Probably only a handful of people. However, the same people who wouldn't buy it, will fork over $1,000 on a guitar and $6,000 on effects.

when i was on vacation i once drove from Chicago to the other side of Wisconsin just to go to Dave's Guitars where they had all the high-end guitars i admired: the White Falcon with FilterTrons was exquisite; i didn't like the Duo Jet as much as my Pro Jet. which i put Dynas in; the Fender rosewood Telecaster weighed a ton but sounded exactly like the "Let It Be" solo which of course i played note-for-note.

Yeah I reckon that will apply to whatever the synth equivalent of ye olde blues lawyers are for sure, but I also don't doubt this beast will find its way into the hands of seriously great sound designers and musicians and that is where the good shit will some from.
