Maybe she's using the Kickstarter as a way to gauge interest, and send a flag up. I've got a hunch she doesn't need the $5,000 that badly. Also, this fundraiser won't collect any money unless she hits her goal.

Hey yo! Because the world is drowning in muffs I have tried quite a few of them. And I've never found a muff that checked off all the right boxes for me. But of all the muffs I have owned and didn't keep the Peachfuzz might be my favorite.

I agree Fran doesn't seem to grok how to Kickstarter but I hope it succeeds!

I think the Peachfuzz was the right choice for a first offering though, used prices are typically $250+ on them and they seem to flip pretty quick even if they look beat to hell.

AMEN. :thumb:

I am truly blown away by the backlash to Fran relaunching her brand. She's been doing this shit since 1994. I'd be curious to see what year the people bashing her were born in. ;)

amazed by what constitutes bashing these days

plus i don't think anyone is Bashing Fran, I think more people just don't understand the purpose or setup of her kickstarter

I hope it works and bet it will

J.Miller's not just talking about here.

I threw up a similar thread on TGP (because, honestly, I think Frantone should have more widespread appeal than just ILF). :D

HBG: I mean the first response is literally "fuck frantone and all these kickstarter campaigns."

On the other hand I don't think automatic veneration of modern efforts by virtue of nostalgia is a particularly endearing trait to market with, however 'homespun' and 'lowkey' and 'Etsy-esque' your pitch.

On the third hand, I have never heard anyone say a bad thing about a Frantone pedal ever, and I wish her and the company the best (even if I'll skip the pitch videos from now on).

interesting,
Haven't been on TGP in about a year I don't think.

I think peeps are having a hard time separating the "this isn't a normal kickstarter" reaction from the quality builder.

As a commentary on kickstarter in general I am working with a company now that has raised millions and has a product that still catches fire. so........there's that I guess. (not at all related to Fran, Fran does not catch fire)

(Edited for clarity) Considering the source of the first response............................

How much were Frantone products when they were being made a while ago?
Kickstarter is weird. I think it makes sense when donating money to something gives you a discount on the final product, like a 'hey, thanks for helping me out, you get to buy XXX for a bit cheaper for that.'

If its charging MORE money just to be the first in line, that seems like its taking advantage of someone.

Don't worry, it's a girl and she has been in the fx pedal business since 1994.

i tried a few Frantone pedals over the years : the Sweet fuzz - which was awesome, and, IMO, actually better than the Peach Fuzz (which i also had & liked, but found it too bottom heavy for use in a band context). also, the Vibutron, which was a really stellar sounding tremolo. I sold all of them because i could get a couple hundred for them & that was worth more to me at the time than some nice, but ultimately replaceable (with cheaper options) pedals.
i wish her the best.

From the TGP thread:
a full pledge will get you one of the first new Peachfuzz's this is true - but if you want to support Frantone and the relaunch of the product line you can pledge any amount you want, and that pledge can be redeemed as a credit to any future Frantone merch that you would want to get.
This is actually a much better pitch than what's being presented on the kickstarter, and a much more compelling idea for people who are interested in supporting her company but don't necessarily want a Peachfuzz.
