Ping pong delays and shit, dual reverbs, seperate dirt chains (my very favorite), lots of cool options. I got pretty into having a sort of wet/dry setup with seperate dirt chains. You can really crank the verb and delay on the wet amp a lot more than you normally would but still retain a lot of clarity with the dry amp. Great for higher gain kind of stuff. Seems like the swirl is probably more up your alley. Great sounds either way. Once you go dual amp, it's hard to go back.
This. I haven't had long enough to play to justify turning on two amps and getting everything set up, but I love running different boards into each amp. Any sort of modulation sounds really nice mixed with a dry amp...or running different sorts of modulation into each amp - get's all kinds of weird and swirly. And running a distortion pedal into one amp and a fuzz into another

I for a short bit went dual amp, one guitar amp that was really clean and the other dirty. It was great because I then set my dirt and gain way high, because the clean amp would offset it, also modulation in stereo is a wonderful thing. Never had both with reverb running through though.

I want to do this with my bass, but the space constraints are tremendous.

playing with the two amps more, i realized its less about the "stereo spread" and more about the way the two amps interact sonically. as you can imagine, an Ampeg Gemini is gonna sound a fair bit different than a Fender Super Reverb. i'm thinking about stacking them at a show. super reverb on its side, gemini on top of it.
