Any idea what a fair price would be if I were to find one of these locally? I'm assuming/hoping that a plastic Arion pedlol should be cheapish, but for all I know what you're saying is common knowledge, and everyone and their mothers is on the hunt for klons, XP300s and Arion chorus pedals...

I'll see if I can put together a clip of mine on bass sometime today - my recording space is a bit of a hot mess, but maybe I can this afternoon.

As for pricing, I got mine for $45-ish a few years back. There is someone (I can't remember who, unfortunately) who was doing modded versions, with a true bypass installed and some kind of other mod - I saw one of those listed on b/s/t AGES ago (by... shit, who was it? My Bloody Television, maybe?) for around $120.

I really like the Modfactor trem. It chops and throbs and randoms and envelopes and brakes and whatevers. TBH it's the only reason I've kept the beast on my board. I may move to an H9 someday but those things is crazy $$$ while used modfactors are like $200

Cheers. I'd really only consider the Arion if I could snag one for a fleemarket/thriftstore/pawnshop price though. $120 could buy me a used grand orbiter, quasar quantum, sibling...

Anyway, srry for hijacking the thread

Edit: Checked a bunch of yt clips. I'm convinced it'd be a step up from the CE-2 in some ways, but it's apparantly a pretty famous pedal after all, with prices going way over what my ce-2 can fetch me :s

I was playing bass through my Whetstone today with it set on II stage Vibrato with the feedback and depth cranked and (the crucial part) the Low Pass on. I was getting some seismic throbs out if it. Never had use for the low pass before on guitar but it really shines on bass.

AFAIC no throb is as musical as the chorus mode of an authentic 4-photocell vibe. Its throb mainly affects the low frequencies while the rest of your tone still seems to shine through. Very unique type of modulation...it's technically a phaser without the wow, swoosh and whooshing.
Another option is a good squarewave tremolo; which will produce throb, but a different sounding version since it switches all frequencies in the signal on/off.

That's why I love my Gig-FX Chopper. It does awesome stereo vibe/faux Leslie tones, but man that Rototron takes the cake. Craps all over all vibes I've heard. I need one for between my Chopper and Echolution 2D.

Budget options could be a DOD Vibrothang, or an Alesis ModFX Ampliton (dual tremolo with options, bit it's more of a desktop or rack unit... but you can use it with an external footswitch)

I think I'm going with a Zvex sonar. I'm a big fan of choppy trem and it seems to do it really well. Plus you can adjust the waveforms so I can get more subtle stuff too. And the machine circuit and the ramp up/down feature. It seems pretty great. I'll know in a few weeks.
