Stay far far away from George L's - they are the fucking worst.

I've had good luck with the pancakes from Mammoth and even the cheap Hosa's.

I buy them like they're going out of style- I have 2 shoeboxes filled with over a hundred of them.

Maybe I'll look into Planet Waves. I have some of these that were cheapies from GC that they sell at the counter. Or that Prymaxe threw in the box (remember they did that for awhile).
These fucking suck. I bought 6 a few years back and 5 have cropped out on me, with no real reason. They are TERRIBLE and a pain in the ass to use with pedals as they're so bulky. My two cents is AVOID. I'm gentle with my stuff, and these were lousy.

Damn. That sucks.

I've actually had several Mammoth plugs fail on me or have weird grounding issues. It's because I change things so often, I know that's why. If I stopped doing that shit, they'd last forever I bet.

Agreed, not only are those Planet Waves patches unreliable, they also tend to not stick out from the rubber housing quite enough and thus pop out of jacks. Bullcrappo!

You cunts are going to think I'm a cunt but I like the gold Monster patches, but only when I go to Guitar Center and they are on crazy sale. Full retail price is wrongo.

I just hate monster because they once made a very nice cable that was indestructible and then they came up with them gold ended things that break themselves...

I used to buy nice ones, that always cropped out. Now I get the multicolor packs of 6" ones for $15, great. No issues. And at Moog Audio I bought a pack of 6 3"s for $12, great too. Been using them for over a year and not one has crapped out.....

My "best" patch cables qualitywise are these right angled heavily shielded short ones I got included for free with a reverb pedal. I looked at the time and I think they cost something like $3@ at most.

I'm still using Hosa pancakes, Hosa TRS (for the rack), and some venerable 20-some year old US-made Radio Shack branded ones.

I have occasional ones die but it's blisteringly rare.

But I don't care if things are multicolored or a hair too long or whatever.

I am not picky as long as it sounds decent.

Do any of you guys choose what patches you use based on sound quality after actually having a/b'd cheapies and mogamis, et al.
I don't.

I've a/b'd cheapie guitar cables with "Good" ones enough that I wasn't compelled to do the same with patch cables.

Nope.

I do need to buy a new batch, though. I am running out of cables.

Nope. I am instantly suspicious of such claims. Same way I will cite that consumer report about people not being able to tell the difference between monster cable and a coat hanger. http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/audi ... cable-and/

I believe an isolated power supply will bring pedals to their fullest potential, but I don't believe a cable is going to make you "sound" better.

That's hilarious about the coat hanger test.

I've never gotten too deep into power supplies. I usually just turn mine up to 12 volts and jam. If I'm not using batteries.

Batteries are the best isolated power supply.

Even isolated supply is a pedal-by-pedal basis.

I don't own any that are that bitchy.
