Loved/love the zsuit...don't know why...something about it is so ugly but appealing to me.

that's an understandable reaction
the keys player in my band has a zoot suit SG actually, I don't really mind the look but I wasn't impressed at all upon playing it.
that earlier 'new century' model with the mirror top was horrid though, easily one of the worst looking/feeling guitars I have ever played.

Gibson was really eating it right around then. that was when they did the Robot guitars too, just before the Firebird X thingy...the days when people were calling for Henry's head on a plate, and when one of the guys at Gryphon Stringed Instruments agreed with me that the Gibbys were so bad/Epiphones so good that it made no sense to buy a Gibson.

Yeah, I really liked some of these Zoot SG's too. If I had the money back then I would have grabbed a rainbow one I think.
