Dan Fucking Deacon (the fucking isn't actually part of his name):

His early stuff is all crazy electro-pop stuff like this. Then he blended some "live" instrumentation into things and made it much less pop structured and came out with Bromst which is pure genius. For some reason I keep forgetting to get his newest album.
I also recommend Yellow Magic Orchestra and Gary Wilson.

if you like Biosphere you've got to check out Thomas Köner, who has several geotectonic dark ambient releases under his own name as well as a live duo with Asmus Teitchins. for drones i particularly love the Merzbow/Pansonic live collab on the Victoriaville Jazz Festival label. for old-school commercial trance that's still musical, i like Paul Van Dyk and particularly BT's Ima album, an epic trance/house fusion with (as was common in those days) a whole second disc of alternates and remixes. i also highly recommend Speedy J's "!ive," which is harder than hell to find but a great summation of Paap's work before he went all abstract and Autechre-shaped.
but my particular soft spot is the murky, ambient, heavily dub-influenced techno that came out of the Basic Channel and Chain Reaction labels from Berlin and eventually spread everywhere from Detroit (the Deep Chord series and Hawtin's brutally minimal post-Plus8 output) to Japan and Slovenia. the seminal documents are the original Basic Channel 12s, which are re-pressed periodically. CD compilations exist but are less than optimal, with the track lengths drastically trimmed. a number of other artists recorded for Chain Reaction, some of whom went on to success with other labels; i'm particularly fond of Monolake, of the guy who perversely records under the name Various Artists (you have to be REALLY dedicated to find his records, trust me!) and of the Porter Ricks compilation which is more swirly and pitch-valued than the sometimes rigorous Basic Channel records.

and you HAVE to have a copy of Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume 2. there is no other acceptable option.

Personally, I lean to Glitch when it comes to Electronic. Glitch keeps you guessing. It's also like synonymous with Quality audio. This is the music you listen to when you want to test your speakers or headphones. This is quality.
Edit - Certified Air Raid Material

Tipper - (if you can find this, surrounded actually comes as a DVD-A *rare* with DTS Surround audio.)

Jetone - This will add another dimension to your audio. Not my favorite... but your headphones...

Finally listened to Dan Deacon's most recent, America. It's fucking transcendent. All his synth pop sounds put to grindcore-esque riffing (the synths, that is, no guitar) into a classically tinged, post-rock structured masterpiece.
