Yeah it's definitely like 3 bassists to 1 guitar player. The opposite of just about every forum except TalkBass.
It's cool, us lame guitarists are a dime a dozen. Good bass players are rare and awesome!

I got a V4b in excellent condition for $550 last year.
Also, I played through a few of these older-looking units sporting what appeared to be a VU Meter and a simple large-slider-equipped graphic EQ. No idea what brand/model. They were pretty neat - if you see something like that, try it out.
I can second that V4 recommendation, they sort of slipped my mind.

I've got a now discontinued Hughes & Kettner Quantum 600 head. Also, a Laney Klipp 100, which is my age. Both amps are nothing short of awesome.
