Because it hasn't really improved?

Seconded, but I quite enjoyed also the Dead Cross album, even if Patton annoys me a bit after a bunch of songs.

I never got why you would want identical boards as your other guitarist. doesnt that kinda defeat the purpose of two guitarists? pertty cool setups tho, i love the empress midi box proudly up and front and under-utilized

Do they use the same guitar and amps? Maybe they like similar tones and that works for their music. Haven't heard the band. When I double on guitar tracks often the guitar tone is pretty much the same and I like that.

Given the relative headspace
the guy from DIIV seems to be in/out of, this looks like the closest thing to
the truth, or else they got a great 2-for-1 deal at GC (Brooklyn).
I did laugh at the SD-1/SD-1w, though

Most interesting thing about it is the fact that he is being "forced" to create a setup with pedals because of his plans of playing a lot of festivals next year (read this in a previous post on Instagram some days ago). In those kind of situations it's not functional bring his customized midi guitar/profiler/pc/bose speakers setup, so he got back to old guitars and stompboxes after years of not using those (at least in live situations).

That sounds like a fun exercise for someone like him who uses so many things to make wacky sounds

Yeah, I think that it's not gonna be much difficult doing weird sounds with todays super tweakable stompboxes for someone who used to make those sounds at the beginning of the eighties using the very few effects available at the time.
