Don't misunderstand me; screamo (or whatever you care to call it) is my favourite genre of music, and I agree with everything you just said, in principle. Just not the specific examples. I love, say, Funeral Diner and Ampere, the American, mid-2000s stuff, and "gloriously unhinged" is a great description. But the dude from Jeromes Dream was an idiot, screaming without a mic. He literally destroyed his voice just to have some indie cred, like, "Singing without a mic. Bruh. Sounded like shit but #Respect." According to SPACERITUAL he now runs an awful streetware company. I just don't know...

Whoa, I have to try to find that brand of clothing. Hope they got a shirt with a guy w/ bowlcut puking blood on a microphone. I remember reading that somewhere and how that's why the later JD material has him using a talkbox, which I definitely don't like. Yeah, it's rough to scream like that too much, and probably a bit stupid. But on record (not that I actually own any Jeromes Dream on vinyl) it sounds cool. He's not my favorite vocalist in that genre, and The Spirit of Versailles were maybe better/more creative... but I appreciate almost all of that shit. It's like how some people from other countries see old Norwegian black metal bands maybe, totally mysterious and raw as hell, recorded under terrible circumstances in a cold basement.

I know about them I just never liked them.

Totally down with facing away from the audience, not playing on stages, and burying vocals in the mix completely. What I'm playing and singing about isn't for FALSES to know about.

Amen! I saw them live. Okay, I saw their 2003 lineup live, two original members. But one of them was John Helliwell, so who gives a fuck? And yes, he signed a setlist for me and yes, I am proud of that setlist. Very proud indeed.
