I already have a few music apps on my iPhone (DM1, Animoog, Filtatron, iMaschine, Garageband) that I got over time when they were on the cheap. I also got myself Arturia's iMini and iSEM when they were half off. Samplr will be my first purchase when I get an iPad. The idea of being able to use it as complement to my synths (Moog Little Phatty & Korg Microkorg), as a second drum machine, as a funny lo-fi samplr using the built in mic and Samplr or as controller for my Mac and Logic X (thanks to the remote) is enticing.
I'm looking at Minis with Retina display 'cause they seem to have a lot more processing power and can be had at a decent price for something Apple if you don't need much hard drive space. I'll go for the 16 gs version. I won't need more as it will be used almost exclusively for music apps.
My bandmate in Etherealness uses one. It's a surprisingly great tool for being creative. We actually recorded some sounds on our two first EPs. The Moog tracks on Etherealness II is actually Animoog IIRC.
