Well from what I've read she was already banned several times on forums, it doesn't seem bad for bussiness or something like that..

You don't really have six+ pedals in the space of two though. You have 2 pedals...and then a bunch of little cartridges to keep track of and constantly change out...just sayin.' The size never gets any bigger, but neither does the amount of effects you can use.

never said at the same time. :P
and thats a reeeally small complaint.

I'm interested in this and have actually been getting more interested in Devi's stuff lately. Not sure why either. Just haven't got to play with any of it, so it's a new thing for me. The only thing I don't like about the console, is exactly what you brought up Jero. It's only good for one sound at a time. Perhaps somewhere down the line there would be a different console offering the ability to use more cartridges at once? That would be awesome.

PS: I hate that I've been away this long... I must be he last person to hear of this... and I haven't even started saving yet! :(

Personally, I love the concept from the perspective of a "noise artist"... The fact that I can potentially pop effects in and out really quickly "on the fly" appeals to me, as does having several in a very small cartridge format.

Plus, I can't help but geek out over the whole vintage game console design...

i would think not...Devi is one of the 900 lb. gorillas of the boutique manufacturer scene, and the other makers need her a lot more than she needs them. i dare say that if the console goes big, e.g. Infanem could see a 100% rise in unit sales from a de minimis investment. plus, she's helped out a lot of pedal makers and has favors to call in. it's like being a star in LA...if you're big enough, you can get away with murder. literally.

I think you are severely overrating devi's power over other builders. If making cartidges becomes a pain in the ass (and I've already heard unofficial whisperings that it is NOT a de minimis investment), other builders could definitely decide it's more trouble than its worth.

Well... before they decide to quit, them bitches need to make a passive ring mod cart with an input that connects to a tone-generator cart...

i can see how you'd interpret my post as overestimating "Devi's power over other builders," but i don't think that's quite what i said. the other builders need/want to be part of the console project for exposure and for potential money-making; my understanding from Devi's spiel was that the cartridge manufacturing would be jobbed out and that the other makers were supplying circuit designs only. and certainly for small and relatively obscure companies such as Infanem, Seppuku, and Mellowtone the exposure as part of a Devi Ever product, which will be much more of a mass-market item, may well be priceless. how else is the name Mellowtone ever going to get into Musicians Friend or Pro Guitar Shop? thus, Devi's behavior isn't going to matter to them any more than Pete Doherty's behavior matters to his backing musicians as long as they get paid...UNLESS they have to invest up front in cartridge manufacturing for a console that never comes to market or dies a horrible death in the marketplace.

i don't think it's a secret, either, that a number of manufacturers are friends of Devi and/or feel obligated to her for help she's given them; for example, Devi licensed circuits which weren't in production at DEfx to Tom early in the history of FuzzHugger.

could other makers bail on the console project? well, sure, under the conditions we've alluded to. but unless the "more trouble than worth" affects the "worth" directly it'd surprise me. there's a combination of factors involved that mitigate against dropping out: potential profit, sense of personal obligation, and the real possibility that Devi could screw up your business by badmouthing you to retailers and other contacts if you crossed her. and given the way she behaves on the internets, do you doubt she would?

re: "getting away with murder": Devi's not the only one. apparently if you've got your pedals in PGS you can be as big of an asshole as you like on HC and the other big forums and they'll let you get away with it, cf. Devi, Zvex, the Catalinbread guy, et al.

This thread is funny

My thoughts: I think it is a good idea as a idea. Personally it don't interest me or fit me needs, but if it does for other people great. Now... it it held more then two... I would be interested. I agree with BCBC on the political issues.
