They've always got some terrible distortion on their boards that they just love.

Stuart's is the Dano Fab Tone.

And no matter what their sound is so fucking huge and amazing!

Wizards not wands, etc.

Mogwai live is awesome. Meant to catch them on this tour, forgot. Meant to listen to their last couple records... forgot.

Def listen to Rave Tapes. One of the best Mogwai albums start to finish in a long while.

Exactly. Which is the last record you listened to?

Hawk is Howling, I think, 'cause I saw them on that tour.

I know it sounds super lame but I'm all about their Peel sessions record + the My Father, My King single.

I saw Mogwai the other night. They can be the chillest easy listening band AND THEN FUCKING CRUSH YOU HEAVIEST BAND ON THE PLANET. I can't figure out what Stuart was using to make all that noise. Is the one with the supersonic fuzz gun his?

Hawk is Howling smokes. The peel sessions are killer. The first time I saw them live they closed with My Father My King. In ending Stuart hung his guitar on the mic stand, then hung the mic over the pickups and the swell of noise was monstrous! The house just shut the pa down about 10 mintues after the boys left the stage because that should was going to go on forever.

Have you watched Burning?

It took me awhile, but I like Hardcore Will Never Die a bunch too. I need to give Rave Tapes some more plays, but there's that one song with the spoken track that just felt so played. Don't get me wrong -- they've still got it. They push their sound on every record, yet still always sound like Mogwai, and there aren't too many bands like that that I know of.

I need to get my hands on the Come On Die Young reissue!

Stuart's board is the one with the Big Muff and Rats. Also I like the fact that he effectively has 3 different Rats. My boy.

Are you sure the RAK is a distotrion? I know he used their analog delay for a long time.

The last album I seriously listened to was the Hawk and it has some of my all time favorite 'Gwai songs on it. They ended their set with Batcat and it was supremely gnarly. So unreasonably heavy. I need to spend some time listening to their new material.

Their live aesthetic on this tour is really awesome. The lights get too bright to look at, the music is too loud to hear, it's awesome.

What does Stuart B use for the delay sounds on songs like Helicon 1, the Boss pedal(s)?

I also saw them close with My Father, My King -- it's definitely immense. Haven't watched Burning yet.

Yea, "Super Distortion" but it may be just the faceplate from the distortion, on the delay.
