I borrowed one, but I mean, you're paying like $700.00 extra just for a sparkly purple finish.

the AVRI seems like a good choice... but the Tele w/ Bigsby would leave me more money for Dr. Scientist stuffins...

I just bought a squire custom tele two weeks ago and mounted a bigsby on it last weekend.
And I have to say I'm quite taken with it...

eeesh, never heard good things about tuning stability on those.
I would get a tele though. They are fucking battle axes.
It'd stay in tune pretty well if I didn't use the bigsby, but as it is if I bend down I should bend up equally to get it back in tune. I installed a tun-o-matic on it, but I should have installed one with rollers

Any good Vox Phantom clones hanging around out there? I doubt I could buy an original if one knob costs this much.

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but if I ought a Mexican Tele, I think I would be accused of copying you... I mean, We would both have M Teles, lotsa fuzz, and a band consisting of just us and a drummer...

a few things if you get a tele with a bigsby (which i totally think you should) -
you can't dive on it. it's only anything like reliable when you're doing subtle shimmers and things like that.
it helps a lot if you get a graphite nut, but you can also rub pencil lead in the slots.
stringing guitars with bigsbys (bigsbies?) can be a pain too just because of the way the ball ends are anchored. it helps if you find a pen or something of similar diameter and pre-bend them before you slap em on there.

Just tried a MIM Semi-Hollowbody Tele, and it was great! Well, aside from the strings not being stretched yet... With a little dirt, I actually got a Mudhoney-esque tone from it!

I've got an extra tele, if you're interested.

Sounds nice, but I prefer the raw sound of single coils.

Seems like a cool guitar, have you played it?

I prefer singles too (I play a fender am. dlx. Stratosonic with p-90s).
The humbuckers on the Blade are coil-tappable at least.
I haven't gotten my hands on one yet!
