When I think metal, I think I want heavy and with lots of substance

Paradoxically, I don't wish for the ones I have to be thicker (TWSS) ...the lack of flex and the different grip of metal versus plastic make them usable for me, when thin plastic isn't due to nerve and other damage to my right thumb.

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

Those are heavy in that they don't bend at all, if that is what you mean.

I actually use the thinner elliptical ones that do have some bend. https://www.juststrings.com/dun-46rt20. ... dun-46rt20

These can also be cut, if one wants to try that Albini twin edge modulation trick

Top row, First two are from Albini, one on the right was made by me with a hole punch and it sucks.
Middle row, copper
Bottom row, first two are steel, aluminum on the right and it sucks.

My favorite is the DR steel. No flex. Really grown to appreciate the sharp tip. Ice Pix are pretty okay. I used the medium copper for years, they wear a bit over time. They make a non-flex steel pick here: http://ice-pix.com/metal-stainless-stee ... mm-3-pack/

Cautionary pictures.

Newer pickguard:

My old pickguard that came with my EGC. Played the hell out of it in my old band. It used to be polished like a mirror. Hard to photograph but most of the surface in the picking area is basically sanded now.

Has anyone found affordable Jazz III picks fashioned out of metal? Timbertones offers a mixed set through Amazon that looks nice, but costs as much as a cheap pedal.

Also, this thread really got me thinking more about alternate pick materials like bone, horn, stone, coconut shells, and Tusq™. I'm curious how each would compare to nylon or Ultex™.

I have been using metal picks exclusively for 2-3 months. These babies SHRED strings; I'm flattening out the winding on my D string, so it causes an awful buzz. I love the feel, so I'm not going back to the Tortex!

Who else is using metal picks?

I used the Dunlop stainless steel picks for a long time, but while they have next to zero flex, they are also pretty thin, so that may not work for you. They last forever, and ping when you drop them on a hard surface, so they're even hard to lose.
