I hear it's a silicon fuzz face with a muff's tone control. Pretty smooth I reckon, ayup

To me, smooth=Germanium. The Ge side of my Pharaoh (muff clone) fits the bill

I do actually. Not a bad fuzz at all imo, it's just not as brutal and violent as the fz-2. Plenty of gain though, and I'd indeed say it's rather smooth sounding.

Depends on amp and guitar first off - next, what other effects in the chain.

There's some stuff that will *never* be smooth, but...you can normal out a lot of abusive fuzzes with the right combo.
