Ha, he reminds me of Christian Bale in American Psycho. I just wish his products didn't cost a thousand dollars and cause (some) people to become snobs... :(

That was BEAUTIFUL.

Disney has done maybe 3-5 movies worth seeing since 1993 :grumpy:

Fuck Pixar. wait, hold on, FUCK. PIXAR.

RUINING DISNEY.

I disagree, Disney died way before PIXAR. You can watch almost any Disney movie with a fucking stopwatch and time where the plot does the same thing in every fucking movie. Disney died shortly after Disney IMOP, PIXAR makes me fall asleep but they were the ones that got most of the Studio Ghibli [well the big stuff anyway] stuff released over here so there is atleast one good point.

Then there is the Disney channel which I think is only in existence to make children's minds grow smaller

Truth. Disney has ALWAYS been predictable. But i mean really, you can't say that the first time seeing the Lion King your heart didn't wrench when Mufasa died. I won't believe you. Granted i was 7 years old when i saw it, but i still remember the feeling...

From the beginning through to the 80's disney was untouchable. You still can't fuck with the stuff they put out then. The only animation crews i've seen that can even come close to the brilliance of the hand drawn classic disney films are in fact, Studio Ghibli (i worship Hayao) and as far as CGI goes, Henry Selick, and Tim Burton.

I hate pixar because i hate their style of CGI. I miss the days of hand-drawn art. It has a completely different level of depth that i have not seen Pixar EVER reproduce. the art comes off as saccharin to me.

I don't think i've seen anything as visually appealing as Coraline come from Pixar. And granted, All anime obviously uses CGI now, but it's used to enhance the hand drawn.

That's why i hate watching Ghost in the Shell. I think as a story, it's brilliant but i can't ever get through an episode because of the 3d-esque shading.

 @ computers. roonin mah moviez

Honestly The lion king didn't shake my world but I was older then you when it came out, and if you like that story then you would like or do like Hamlet, the story to The Lion King draws a lot from Hamlet to me. Now I will say I thought it was good and also the last Disney movie I liked.

I agree and disagree about the CGI, I don't have problem with it if it is used with taste and fits in to the subject matter like the water in the Three Triplets Of Bellevue [if you haven't seen this you MUST] and the use in the GITS movies [I thought the animation in the TV version was hit or miss] but can suck to hell like the last Appleseed movie [I want my time back] or as you say PIXAR type stuff; actually what made me prone to be against PIXAR of all things is my hatred for Randy Newman; I just really don't like his music or voice.

hey mud, while reading your last post (that one^) i was thinking "yeah i agree" the whole time, especially ESPECIALLY about Appleseed, the cgi ruined what couldve been a really good and dark cyberpunk anime, had it been done in the style of Akira or Armitage
but no....they had to go and screw it all up....

The triplets of bellevue was phenomenal. I loved that move. If that's a PIXAR movie, than i will put that on my list of great films. The CGI in that was indeed appropriate. I'll admit that a lot of the CGI is appropriate for the films, i just wish it was hand drawn. it really is magic. :idk: Just a personal opinion.

and Appleseed...

A remake (some say ripoff) of the Japanese cartoon series Simba.

Maybe if credit had been given to the original.

Disney is indeed an evil corporation, always has been, always will be, right down to the man himself. But fuck, that was a good movie. It's a shame most americans write anime off and find it silly. I guess that's partially disney's fault anyway

oh well.

This is what Steve Jobs had to say when he finally came back to Apple 12 years after he got fired :

"O.K., tell me what's wrong with this place," Jobs said. After some mumbled replies, he jumped in: "It's the products! So what's wrong with the products?" Again, executives began offering some answers. Jobs cut them off. "The products SUCK!" he roared. "There's no sex in them anymore!"

Fuck yeah.

He first started working at Atari back in the 70's to save up money for a spiritual retreat in India, and during a break from the company had some psychadelic trips as well commenting

his LSD experiences "one of the two or three most important things I had done in my life."

Steve jobs is incredible. His products are incredible. and pretension with computers go so many way. Honestly i also know about 100 PC users who write off macs because the pretension that surrounds them, you know the whole "only artists us them" ideology  Well when my mac ate it last month i had to use a Dell PC lab offered by my school. I remember why i hate PCs and went to the mac in the first place (if not solely for garage band :animal: )

I love my mac, i love it through all of it's consistant overheating and logic board malfunctions and consistant glitching, and freezing. That's annoying, but i still have applecare. Got 'em to replace my keyboard, hard drive, and the cover surrounding the keyboard. Logic board, and battery are next.

Don't even get me started out on apple care. Apple care is bullshit. If your computer is dented at all, they wont cover it. the tiniest fucking dent. I fought with them for a week like 3 hours daily and 4 trips to the apple store. I won, in the end. but seriously, they saw my computers tiny dent maybe 1/4 the size of the power adapter, and just said no. 3 times after the apple higher ups said yes. WTF IS THAT SHIT?! They won't cover a failed hard drive if you have a tiny dent?!

Oh! don't forget all of these deep scratches. They wrote that my computer was badly scratched up in the report.

But apple is amazing, i agree. Even though i had to deal with all of that bullshit and they replaced my american keyboard with a british one (what did i expect, i'm in the UK) Steve jobs rules. that movie looks amazing. i'm gonna go watch it now. :thumb:

You guys are old fuddy duddies. These movies are big fun for little kids.

I've been a huge anime fan for years (the weird kind that goes to the conventions), and Miyazaki bores the shit out of me.

Everyone's different i guess.

I've gone to Otakon for like 4 years and running now and Miyazaki is a god.

also, that's an amazing statement. I got a good giggle. :thumb:

I think Disney and Pixar movies are really made for kids. A lot of people love the Disney movies from their childhood, but hate the ones that came after. While large corporation finance these things, there are still bunches of creative people that make 'em.

Sorry I'm scattered. I'm at work and heavily medicated.

This is a good point. I settle on this.

That's not even fair. I think i tried to go throughout middle school and high school, but my parents didn't understand it, and wouldn't take me. :(

My one friend who's gone every year since '98 would never tell us about it and we'd miss out. Ugh. It wasn't until i got a car and a job i was allowed to go. :joy:

I think i have to miss it this year.. I will probably have to prepare for tour and not spend all of my money. :idk:
