I dunno, I would use pedals and stuff and make dirty drum sounds that I liked. I do agree about the snappy envelopes. Sampling was always better, but I did like my FM synth sounds too. also, most of them will only give u one sound at a time, so unless u have like a sampler or something to dump the sounds onto its not gunna be a full on drum machine,, boom clack bip blip all that shit. u would need some kinda of multi-timbral synth, which is basically what an analog drum machine is
btw, not to be offensive, I am generally curious, but what is your fetish w/ analog?
