This guy makes some really fun stuff at reasonable prices: ElectroLobotomy.

I have his pitch shifter and divider and they are neat and a little crazy. I like the way the Hadron Collider sounds and it is 100.

And if you've got an iPhone and/or iPad, there's LOTS of great apps for cheap that will feed your drone lust...
I've heard of that but never looked it up. What exactly does a feedback loop do? Is it usually in the form of a pedal?

But they can be in a pedal form too.

forgot about this guy. some pretty cool stuff, too. I received the minimal drone for my friend's birthday today, it's not too loud and pretty straight forward. would go for the max if it's an option.

Seten wrote:Thanks guys. I think right now the min/maximal drone seems like a good start for me, but I also might get one of the cheapo plastic ones (monotron and gakken)
i would be careful about dismissing the cheapo-looking ones over the boutiquey-looking ones just for looking cheap.
looking at the gut shot of the maximal there doesn't appear to be very much going on under the lid other than 6x very basic oscillators.
whereas the cheapo-looking one has very useful options re waveshaping, even more so than the basic monotron. a lot more going on. the superficial plastickiness is just the payoff for the greater functionality.
monotron has the much respected ms20 filter and is easily modded for greater functionality.
maximal = hummer. solid but limited.
monotron = mercedes. reliable and respected.
gakken = italian sports car. wild card.
and the monotron duo may be worth the extra bit for the extra options. still cheap cheap.

this is a good post. Especially if you're getting a drone box/sound maker that you want to use as a standalone device.

I like all of Michael Rucci's stuff. Super nice guts on them, low current draw, good fun sounds, good customer service. Can't go wrong.

As a noise dude, I can confidently say anything run through the right board can sound awesome...
It's just a matter of finding the right board

Got one last night on Amazon. I feel evil and awesome at the same time. Wanted to get one during my great monotron craze a few years ago but couldn't find one at a decent price delivered. Thanks D.O.S!

I had to get one too. I think I might have the right board for it.
