Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work you can always hit them with it.

I've only seen a few other 'tube replacements', but would like to hear them in a direct replacement scenario if it is possible.

Either way, neat. And keep pushing technology.

Also these are really only good for preamps. These are not power tubes. Sweating Power tubes + Big Iron = tube tone.

That was the first question that skittered across my mind, whether or not these could be used for creating power stage saturation. I would be interested in something like that.

Does anybody else think it just looks cool as a component? It looks like a little digital vhs tape...

these look cool. not as replacement for where one uses tubes currently really, but it could open some doors for tubes to find their way into circuits where they otherwise wouldn't be considered. like pedals and synths and such. which could be really interesting. new sounds and all. but yeah, i can't see these replacing the 12ax7's in your amp or anything. generally a cool thing about tube amps is being able to change tubes or try different things. preamp tubes are cheap enough that it's not that big of a deal and the trade offs of what you would lose if you used these seem not worth it in that application.

I was definitely imagining pedals using these as opposed to amps.

Hey, some of these for a preamp + a chipamp for a poweramp, and you're in business.

Hey they make chicklet-sized starbursts now and they're even better than I though they could be.
