Deadbeat by A Place to Bury Strangers, the "moving guitar fuzz" sounds. It happens from like :12 until :17 the first time and a bunch more throughout the song. Very certian that is wah after fuzz because wah before fuzz isnt as resonant, but wah before fuzz is cool because it effects the frequencies going into the fuzz whoch can create lots of sweet textures.

I think if you look at it more like a tool to accentuate certain frequencies and to cut through a mix in unique ways and less like John Mayer you're better off

BitQuest is the obvious choice. Elements is another good option. RRR, too...

I've said it before, but chuck a Systech Harmonic Energizer or Maestro Parametric EQ or some other such filter somewhere in the middle of your chain. It'll make all your other pedals do new, weird things.

Ryan has started populating pcbs for the first production run of BitQuests. Enclosures are coming soon. The initial etched run was limited but the BQ is going to be a fully fledged production pedal. And it gets my vote for your next purchase. The flanger and the ring mod are outstanding, as is the delay.

I'm not much of a wah guy, but if you are, I guess it'd make sense to look in that direction. As for other modulation: Impo any good non-artificial/digital sounding chorus or phaser or flanger would make a nice addition to your board. I too used to think modulation pedals weren't for me. Turns out I'm just really picky

You didn't mention a budget... So... I'm gonna go big and say that an Eventide H9 can do the weirdest, wackiest, most controllable stuff. It's definitely not for everyone based on cost, and the iOs or desktop interface is pretty critical to getting everything perfect. All that said, I bought one, snatched up the pitchfactor algos that are good, Ringmod from modfactor, blackhole and mangled verb from Space, Digidelay and reverse from timefactor, and all the new H9 exclusives.

This has been over the past year or so, and it has been so worth it. My problem right now is that I want a 2nd h9 to run one at the beginning of my chain, and one at the end.

There's also a wah algo in the h9 It's usable.
