Thanks for the info guys. I think I pretty much figured out the setup I want. Tele Deluxe with a mahogany body and maple neck. Just gotta figure out what pickup I want in the bridge. I love my Duncan Distortions, but since I have the option I have been thinking of what else I might be able to slap in it. Might go with the Parallel Axis since I had one of those in an old guitar and loved it for the increased mids and clarity. I dunno though... might go all out and try some BKP

Just as a money saver, consider putting a warmoth neck on a cheaper body. Body's are available on ebay all the time as well as some other places for dirt cheap. If you like the lp thing, there are some quality kits available as well. I did. One up with a set neck. To be similar to the axess. I added a wrist carve ala fender as well. Crazy comfy to play. I'll post pics when I get home.

On the bass end I like Warmoth bodies just fine but I'm not a fan of their heavy necks. I prefer USACG necks, since they offer more neck width and thickness options and graphite. You'll have to install the nut yourself but a blind dyslexic monkey could do that.

Not an option for me since the biggest part about going with this build is the arm contour for the Tele body. When going through the builder it wouldnt let me choose binding. Would look cool though. :(

i actually thought of going the other route and finding a Fender neck to put on the Warmoth body. I ended up going with one of their premade necks though as it was the exact build I was going for with the exception of it was 22 frets instead of 21. Couldn't argue though because it is on sale for about a hundred bucks cheaper than if I had ordered the same thing.

you could still do binding. I did on the aforementioned lp build.

It beat to shit as I don't take care of it at all, but here you can see how I just kinda faded out the binding in the cut out area. Mahogany strips are a PITA. Probably wont use that for binding again any time soon. Looks nice in person though.

Did comfort countour carves on the back as well. The route for trem was done prior to getting the right tools, hacked it out with chisels. not ideal so please ignore that.

IT'S A BEATER FOR SURE BUT IT PLAYS REALLY NICE!

Take a look at the Schecter teles - they have deluxe style teles with the belly and arm contours and binding on the top. Of course, mine sounds like shit and needs to go to a tech, but that's what I fucking get for ordering it online because it was pretty... :grumpy: It plays well, which leads me to believe it's crap electronics that are the problem, so it's not all that bad.

If it sounds good unplugged, yeah, electronics are the problem.

Since telling my boss about my incoming warmoth parts he has been hemming and hawing about putting together a frakentele over the past couple of days. To satisfy his gas he instead ordered some new pickups and electronics for his epiphone joe pass guitar that I can install for him. He was in pretty much the same situation t-rey, guitar feels nice but the pickups leave much to be desired. Hopefully this will be a good upgrade as we don't really have a jazz box type guitar at the studio.

And good score on the premade neck. They can have some killer deals in there as long as you dont mind having one or two details slightly different then what you were aiming for.

I played one of those green sparkle Schecter teles with a bigsby and it was nice. The only thing I didn't like was the bigsby and the headstock. To me the oversize 70s strat headstock seems like it was made for a tele. I know it shouldn't matter but I figure since I'm going to go all out on this I might as well make everything on it exactly the way I want it.

Touche. They have some hardtail models. I kinda wish I had gone that route since I don't use the bigsby at all, and I am suspicious that it (or the roller bridge) is stealing mah toanz. I hear you on the 70's headstock though - I think tele headstocks are awful.

I wish the would give me an option for a Bass VI that wasn't just an offset. A tele styled one would be really rad.
