There are hardtail conversion plates for Jazzmaster/Jag style trems out there.


According to this sold reverb listing, https://reverb.com/item/19831-rhoney-ja ... sion-plate they're not being made anymore (at least not by Paul Rhoney) but I imagine you could track one down if you hunt for it, especially on offsetguitar.

I can get you in touch with a Luthier in Canada who had some made at one point. Not sure if he has any in stock anymore though, but he knows a guy who makes them

I'm borderline between whether I should take less of a financial risk and get something from Rondo, get myself a Fender Baritone Telecaster (not crazy about the finishes), or put together a parts baritone. Maybe a Telecaster. Or dare I say, Fenderbird?

I played a Fender Tele Baritone the other day. while I liked the feel of the neck and wasn't at all thrown by the scale length the frets needed serious work. I think that every Squier I've played has been significantly better than that bastard.

The biggest complaints I've read about those is that the QC is kind of all over the place and they're setup very poorly.

It would. I think I've kind of settled on that. I don't really play guitar, but I've always wanted a Firebird, so why not take this opportunity to kill two birds (geddit?) with one stone. Now to find a reliable source for bolt-on Firebird bodies...

I highly recommend the Paul reed smith SE baritone. I just got one and it plays and sounds wonderful. Good for the heavies, but you can totally cop some twin peaks vibes with both pickups on.

I've been looking at those as well. I've never played on a PRS (mostly because they're so expensive so I don't see a point in trying one out), but I've seen them go for around the same price as the Fender Telecaster. I think it's something I would want to try out first to see how I like the feel of it. The other downside to me is that I absolutely detest silverburst. It is my absolutely least favorite guitar finish. Although I figure if I get one cheap enough, I could get it refinished.

I've also seen some on eBay that have a spalted maple top that looks quite nice

Robbie Shakespeare loves PRS basses from back in the day. So, they must've been doing something right low-endwise.

They have a regular sunburst one too. But I love silverburst so I jumped at the chance to get mine.

It does have super hot pickups though.
