T-40 all day. Neck pickup with the tone rolled back is the shit. I personally like the pickups without the blades. They are just a touch less trebly.

update: apparently he wants me to play guitar instead? i dunno yet, first practice this evening. will update on it.

I know this thread is moot on it's original topic but still: Hondo Short Scale P-Basses from the 80s rule.
The stock pickup in mine is so hot & bassy, I love it.

But I'm pretty sure they're made of plywood.
I still need to actually refinish mine, I started that DIY thread so long ago

The plywood is part of the charm.
