All the vintage parts are worth ~$700, allparts necks are cheap but usually pretty good if they're finished well. The refin could be good or bad, hard to tell from the pics... I wouldn't spend more than $900 on it.

Most of the vintage value is in the neck. I've bought vintage bodies for $300 and vintage pickups for less than $150 each, but when it comes to vintage necks, a pre-cbs neck in good condition with original tuners usually warrants at least $1200.

If you're looking to spend $2500, you can probably find a fully vintage refin JM from someone on the OSG forums, or maybe on ebay if you keep an eye out, like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Fender-Jazzmaster-1960-/171103042581?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=wj3gu0rYjym2BX3dx0LwFIRpdFU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Also I wouldn't get too hung up on vintage pickups, they seem pretty over-valued these days. I've done tests with customers between a 59 JM, a 64 JM, and a 63 JM with Pickup Wizard pickups in it... and everyone prefers the pickup wizard pickups! I prefer them too, which is why they're in my 63 JM :thumb:

Not on topic, but kinda:

What in the flagrant flying fuck is with people who list vintage guitars with "replacement" bodies?!

/end rant

I agree with previous posts made. Keep a judicious eye out and score an all OG refin.

I think some people really do have no clue when it comes to selling stuff second hand. Spotted a Squier VM Jag on a local classifieds site and the dude was selling the guitar for 30 quid higher than its price on thomann claiming that he'd done "extensive modifications". Turns out all he'd done was file down the bridge saddles!
