After finding out after I bought my 2013 SG that it had a PCB for the control cavity layout I have given up hope on Gibson. Going to just buy older used models or get copies. Although the 2013 Standard plays and sounds great, it concerns me to see where they are cutting corners and how they aren't putting the player into consideration by doing so. Changing pickups just became a nightmare when it should be a breeze.

Yeah they started doing the pcb thing around 2010 or so, weird because mine wasn't done that way and it's a 2010. I've read people saying its actually pretty easy to change pups with the pcb layout. You just add connectors to the new pickup and them swap them but I'm not 100% sure as I haven't dealt with those. I know you can go back to original wiring with something like the RS Guitarworks wiring kits but again that's a bit of a hassle in itself.

I have a 2011 Lp 60s studio and it has normal wiring. I don'y have the connectors though. And on top of that if one pot dies, the whole lot of them is useless. So instead of replacing one pot, I would have to replace four.

How so? You take the pcb out, desolder the old pot and solder on the new one afaik. I don't think one pot going bad would affect the other 3.
