Yeah I think the brand elitism comes from a good place here, though We are only trying to support our fuzzy familiy!
I feel bad that I even have this thing though, I have a custom mega muff coming from Dirge Electronics soon. I guess I could have both, but I imagine there may be some sonic redundancy. The Leviathan almost sounds like an IC Muff at times.

Wampler is fully legit. Despite the success of his company he still contributes with some regularity to DIY forums and is really open with his designs. And for the most part I think his pedals nail the sounds he is trying to get/advertising. There's a whole lot more demand for "turn my amp into a 65 blackface" than "turn my amp into a screaming glitchy wall of noise", and that's where most of his lineup is at. If I remember from some old demos he's a fairly decent chicken picker as well. Could be making that up.
Don't own a Wampler nor do I want to at the moment, but I like his attitude to gear and gearheads. Good purchase duder.
