This album feels like the perfect mix of pre/post Good Apollo. I never could get behind YOTBR, but this is pure redemption. It brings back the groove that was missing. Which I can't help but speculate has a lot to do with Josh.

This album definitely makes up for YOTBR. I feel like its a combination of Josh coming back and Claudio going back to writing the old way, or so I recall reading somewhere. The Afterman (the song) is interesting. It sounds very indie band to me and less Coheed, but it works pretty well. I'm really looking forward to Descension to come out so we can have a complete album and not just an EP, and perhaps a more complete feeling album. The lack of length (since its just the first half) makes it feel a little empty, or not as solid as all their previous albums. Its kind of a weird thing to say right now, but still it bugs me.

See for me, it honestly feels like we are going to get 2 full cd's. IDK, I mean it literally hasn't been off of repeat since I got it, even when I'm not home, I leave it on for my cat. I am so in love with it. I think Holly Wood Cracked may be my favorite so far, took a little to get use to, but the chorus gets me every time. I havn't felt this way about a cd in a very long time.

Didn't one of their dudes get arrested for trying to score crack?

Their former bassist said he had a bomb and told a pharmacist to give him oxy. I believe he's under house arrest now. & has cancer.

Yea apparently he wanted/needed the oxy for what was the onset of his cancer, just sort of snapped, sad story too, since he had shaken a heroin addiction a couple years prior to stay in the band.

I didn't know how I felt about Holly Wood when I first heard it, but every time I hear it, I like it more and more.
Several people have asked me "Who's cracked?" "Oh, I didn't realize I was singing out loud.

Despite how I feel about the length (I just want more is all), I complete agree with everything you've said. Aside from the cat, because I don't have one. But I might go out and adopt one just so I can leave this album on repeat for him while I'm out.

"Okay MC Whiskaz, here are your kitty headphones and the new Coheed album. Enjoy!"
"Whatever man. As long as you feed me."

Cats are great.

No No, I totally agree, 9 songs does make it painful by the time it ends, I just think I will be a lot happier when I have an 18 track CD (plus bonus tracks that I havn't even heard yet) than a standard 12 track CD, because I don't think they can do any wrong as far as this album/series goes.

So I listened to it for the first time today. It's exactly the direction I wanted to hear from Coheed. The only song I was unsure about was Holly Wood, but it grew on me literally half way through the song. Just an awesome album, from start to finish.
