I have gotten tired of oscillation now and then, sometimes you just want some good ole fashioned feedback or a clean drive. But I still keep oscillating fuzzes around for many reasons. Number one is lead guitar. I love being able to hold a note and hear it interact with the oscillation. Honestly though, the best kind of oscillating fuzzes are the ones that are so high gain they feedback. So if I have a humbucker guitar, I can let the feedback fight with the oscillation for control. And while I'm doing so I can move around to change the feedback pitch and tweak guitar knobs to change oscillation pitch.

Second reason is for synth/drum machine use which I think is where oscillating fuzzes are best used. Making a beat or a loop, put through an oscillating fuzz, and tweak the output of the loop to let in oscillation. Bleeps and bloops and surprise bass lines. :joy:

Third, is I use them in recording a lot. When I had an Eau Clair Thunder I used it's oscillation to play notes throughout a song. I sat their with my finger holding down the feedback switch and using the tone and mode switches to change pitch between C, F, and G. And since the song was in C major it worked out pretty darn well. The rest of the guitar and bass in the song was clean but I had a fuzzy oscillating drone going throughout the entire song. :excellent:

But sometimes I just want to chill with a good sho boost and to play some sexy notes with some reverb. :hobbes:

I don't know... I don't really build my songs around pedals. The song is first and the pedals are second. Adding an oscillating fuzz to to a song is an after thought and if it sounds good, then it's good. I suppose in that sense, I use oscillating fuzz or any pedal for that matter to add atmosphere. Putting the song in a different environment than clean. But If I go to a show and my pedalboard doesn't work for whatever reason, I still want to be able to play my songs. So I make sure all of my songs can sound good clean and loud.

I like when the oscillation is controlable, the AB-Synth 5k is perfect for that.

Yes sir! Love being able to actually play the osc, by plucking the stings softer, or rolling the instrument vol down a little. All the knobs are so interactive on that box too, especially when oscillating.

I'm right with ya there. You can bet if I'm not playing through them directly, there's one making synth layers in the background a lot of the time.

I used to run my ABsynth5k through all my filters/modulation to one amp, set up synthy, and run some other dirt + maybe a delay to my other amp for the guitar/bass.

Yeah, that's exactly how I approach writing, I never write songs that absolutely require a certain pedal, because from day to day I'll feel like using different sounds for different parts of songs. Sometimes I'm in the mood for oscillation, sometimes just fuzz, sometimes clean; I love interpreting things differently.

YOU MAD?! :wha?:

Q: what do You do with a pedal that doesn't oscillate?

A: You put it in a feedback-loop and TADAH - there it goes off, straight through the roof, bringing down satellites. Problem solved.

I just made the oscillating version of the Hyperion after seeing this thread  (it's pretty awesome by the way)

I'm rarely creative enough to actually incorporate oscillating fuzz into my music but I think it's lots of fun to play around with anyways. I guess what I'm saying is I like it but it's not a selling point for me.

Never played a fuzz with oscillation but my delays have to have it. I had a TC Nova Repeater once. No oscillation at all. It was so boring. I use just back and forth on the edge of oscillation about half the time I have a delay on.

Let's see... i've had a Fuzz Factory and TGD

i actually prefer TGD when looking back, noise>sqeels

So I was jamming with the CCB and Fac off-driving notion-SMMH in the loop. That was good oscillation fun. Not boring fuzz factory squeelz. Scared the shit out of my dog. Lol

Oscillations, oscillations
Electronic evocations of sound’s reality

Spinning, magnetic fluctuations, waves of wave configurations
That dance between the poles of sound and bind my world to soul.

I walk the streets of moment. Head down to the ground.
Cars are stars remotely far. My only world is sound.
Passersby are worlds that fly. Far from the dance of time.
Time whirls round from pole to pole and swirls within the sound… of
